Changi is very, well, it IS different. Singapore as a nation is so moden and organized - yet the interior of Changi is strage. It reminded me of being in a claustrophobic mall instead of an airport. It has low ceilings, it is completely carpeted etc.

On the other hand, SIN is very organized and is simple to navigate. I loved how the departure and arrival borads had the current temprature and weather conditions in the destination cities.

Maybe because it has one of the most complete passengers' facilities? I agree with CaymanCX, everything is very organized, and the layout is simple to navigate. A lot of large windows to view aircrafts and one of the best airport shopping experience. Everything from the immigration to baggage claim and customs were done very fast too. You can be outside the terminal just under 30 minutes after touchdown.
Although, I too, dislike the low ceilings.

Thanks for the info guys!
Have you noticed that they give candy at immigration?
Is Changi the only airport where they give that?

HEAD SCREENER

Hi

I visited Changi last November and the impression I got was it was very calm and no crowds, despite the number of flights arriving and departing.

Yes, I got sweets at the immigration counter and a lovely smile from the girl. I think she was just checking me out

Also, a first for me, was the screening of baggage before checking in. Using some sort of machine, the guy told me it was a special machine for drug detection.

Hello,
I don't mean to start a fight. But for my personnal feelings, I don't really like SIN.
There aren't places for us to take photos, like I mean beside the gates. Most airports do the security check right after the immirgration, but they don't. THe people who visited S'pore before will know that, we won't be able to take photos through 4 layers of glass~~
ANother other thing is that the airport is too dim. The airport is all closed up by walls and the bulbs used are yellow and orange color>>No sunshine is used as well, more or less the same as the Kaitak terminal building before it was closed.>
But for overall service it was not bad, only the ground service staff for qantas took a long time to checkin my friend and I~~I don't think that has anythign to do with the airport......just to mention it~

Maybe I am from HKG, and I DID make some compares between them......I think SIN is not the best airport as many people say~

Cheers,
Skybutt

I agree with Skybutt, Changi is one of the worst airports for plane spotting, as most of it is covered up.

But in my opinion, its the best airport.

skybutt! i agree with you.

yes, the service of SIN changi is very good. But, the problem is i can't see the plane i will be in it CLEARLY before i board it!
For me, I just fly 1 or 2 trips a year, and i WANT to see, to watch and to feel the plane AS NEAR AS POSSIBLE!!!
Again, the service is really good at Changi!

Tak

Thanks for the info, again guys!
its nice to see all the different opinions you have on Singapore Changi airport.

About your comments for not enough lighting, there will be alot of natural lighting in the furture terminal 3. The roof will be made up of many mirrors that reflect light so that only very few lightbulbs are needed.
What do you think about that?

It certainly is an impressive airport. With a hotel, a gym, swimming pool, a catus garden, an internet zone, an impressive line of shops and some cool water fountains it really is something. The low ceilings didn't bother me much by any means. And for those who really need to get out - a free tour of the city - wow! Talk about getting the best out of a long layover.

I've flown on 9V-SPK.

Yes but you must pay for the internet in Changi. Go to Zurich Kloten (now Unique :-( ) and you will find free internet in both terminals in the transit area.

Go to Genva and you will find free internet sponsored by a bank (with 1 minute of ads every 6 minute) in the arrivals area!
