According to the German daily Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, Lufthansa will not make a decision on the B748 or the A350 in 2006. The paper is quoting Carl Siegel, a member of the executive committee of the airline, who said that they are waiting for detailed information on the A350. What LH had already heard about the A350 was "very promising", Siegel said.
At the moment the article is only available in print, but not yet online.

2007 will be interesting then:
737 replacment (the order for the A32x aircraft this year won´t cover their needs)
Maybe a A300 replacement as mentioned by Johnny in an earlier thread (but from the same source that has said LH is about to buy 747-8Is in December)
But please LH don´t wait too long you have announced this order so often and postponed again the suspense is killing me !!
It will forever be a McDonnell Douglas MD 80 , Boeing MD 80 sounds so wrong

I would be very surprised if all the pending action fields will be tackled by LH in 2007 - I'd rather expect them to take priorities and postpone the short haul- and regional fleet-decision once again. LH seems to be grabbing up all available BAe 146's and ARJ's at the moment for their subsidiaries, so it seems like they are still waiting for the right new-built regional aircraft type to come along.

Quoting Fraport (Reply 6): Wondering what Johnny's "reliable internal sources" say to this Wink Sorry, no offense but I just couldn't resist. May the topic 'LH widebody order' rest in peace until we hear hard facts.
Doubtful. I predict this thread will grow to 100+ posts, with various people predicting LH will buy every type of airliner currently being designed or manufactured.

Well LH has to commit soon. Leaked and unconfirmed internal sources said the 787 won the latest RFP against the A350XWB, but that was before the A350XWB went to the CFRP "shell". If LH wants the 787, they better be placing at least some slot deposits otherwise they may have to take the A350XWB even if it doesn't end up being the right choice for them based on their own studies.
