Just wondering if anyone had any more info than can be found on the website http://www.tropicalairways.com/ Also, how viable can a NTL-BGI-SKB-STN route on a L1011 be? I mean come on. SKB??? would maybe bigger tourint destinations such as UVF or ANU be better?

I think Tropical is a ridiculous mistake of an airline. They arranged to lease ex DL L1011s from Ceilidh's than Celtic Caledonian Airways for these flights, but seeing as they have no viable business plan, no real financing, and no idea what they're doing the arrangement fell apart. I'm sure he'll provide some details.
Now they've made plans to lease older BW L1011s, BW wouldn't sell to Caledonian Wings, for this haphazard insightless enterprise.
The only tropics these planes will be going to is probably Marana.

We had a contract to lease them one aircraft which was going to be acquired from BWIA. Their contractual commitments included the provision of a bank guarantee or letter of credit by a certain date - which didn't appear; and then a month later they were supposed to have put up their first month's rental in cash.
Even though the deal with BWIA fell through - the aircraft we'd earmarked for TIA was one of the three that we'd been in negotiations with them about acquiring - we did have a back-up plan to provide TIA with an alternate aircraft should they have performed.
The last I heard was that they were talking with Omni about taking a DC10 - but I've heard as well that the DETR in the UK are less than impressed with them and will not be letting them operate, as they have serious concerns about the quality of the management of the airline.
