Ok my friend is arguing with me over this senario. If you flew IST-FRA-LHR and checked in and through checked your bags all the way and and got both boarding cards. If you decided when you got to FRA you wanted to stay overnight and just didnt show for the next flight what would happen to your bags?? Would you file a lost bag report in FRA or LHR ??? He would have another ticket with another carrier for the next day FRA to LHR.

Your bags would be left in FRA.
So after the FRA-LHR flight departs you can tell the baggage desk, and they will give you your bags. There is usually a window by the customs exit in the arrival hall.

Well thats just silly you would create massive headaches for the ground staff and because you would still be showing checked in with a bag we would have to put calls out in the terminal for you to come to the gate.

If youre bag was the first to be loaded then you would seriously delay the aircraft as we would have to look through all the bags to offload yours if you dont travel neither does your bag big security issue!!!

I have one piece of advice if you dont want to take your connecting flight then tell someone in advance and save us all this hassel!!!

plus if the airline has to send you your bag it costs around £100 a bag.

upcoming flights LHR-LAX-HNL-SFO-LHR

Thanks for that , Ive won the arguement with my mate, he said that the bag would be allowed onto the other aircraft because it had been scanned. I said it wouldnt .
