According to the ever-reliable (ha!) Indianapolis Star, TSA at IND stopped a man Sunday who was wearing an armored vest and carrying a pellet gun. They found him out when he tried to pass through security. He was not flying, but was attempting to escort relatives who were flying to their gate, and said he had the gun/vest because he felt he needed "protection".

How the heck do you not remember that you're carrying a pellet gun and wearing a bulletproof vest?

Somehow this kid's story doesn't add up.... while I don't think he had nefarious intents, I can safely say he isn't the sharpest tool in the shed.

and lastly how in the world did he make it up to the checkpoint w/o a valid boarding pass???

What is a 19 year old high school senior doing with body armor in the first place? There are two clues that something isn't right. Maybe a 19 year old senior isn't all that uncommon these days. But a high school student with body armor certainly should be a red flag that something isn't right with this person. Either he had nefarious intentions and got caught or he has serious mental issues. What idiot wears body armor to an airport and carries a gun with them? He didn't forget. That is total nonsense.

Indy = Indianapolis and not Independence Air

What an idiot!!!

I think it's funny that his relatives just took off without saying anything. How could they have not known what was going on?
