DL 35 From DKR...Aircraft Continuing On To....?

I noticed that the 763 from DKR arrives in ATL early in the morning. Where does this aircraft go on to? Surely DL wouldn't let it sit in ATL until the European flights begin departing. Maybe a run to MCO and back? Maybe a quick flight to DEN and back in order to make a later flight to Europe? Does anyone know where the aircraft continues to?

The proper term is "on final" not "on finals" bud...

Evan767, I can't find any potential immediate turns. Believe it or not, 767-300ER with Int'l config are rare from ATL in the morning nowadays.

Some possibilities would be:

A Hawaii run (like 1273), but probably not because it would remove the a/c for the evening's TATL ops. Currently listed as a 764, though DL has used 763's to Hawaii before.

Change flights 683 and 682 (ATL-MBJ-ATL) to the 763 Int'l cabin configuration as it leaves ATL at 951 AM and returns to ATL at 4:58 PM. Currently listed as a 763 domestic cabin config.

But, I checked a bunch and can't see an obvious return to service for the type at that timeframe.

maybe they could run a flight up to JFK so passengers could connect with the other international flights from there?

They do it at JFK when the 120 arrives from Sao Paulo but here is the routing for the plane doing DL35 a/c 1701 the Force for Global Good Plane. Will sit until 2pm then It will head to JFK as DL192 to make the trip to CDG as DL118. So it will sit for about 5 hrs in which time it will most likely go under MTC checks after the long trip from home.

Several 767-300s arrive early AM in ATL... GRU, SCL and EZE to name a few.

Gees, man...the poor thing just flew all the way to Africa and all the way back...a total of, what, 24-26 hours total air time? Can't it take a break, get a little tender loving care, maybe a check of the oil, a dump of the lavs?

Also it would not do a HNL run. That is what the 764's are setup for primarily out of ATL. The 763 from JNB/DKR probably spends most of the day at the TOC.

DL specifically reworkd its maintenance program several years ago to take advantage of the ground time on the 763s between their arrivals from S. America (and now Africa) early in the a.m. and their departures to Europe, S. America, and Africa later in the day. One of those 767s will go back to Brazil during the daylight starting in a couple weeks but DL wants to use the time for maintenance during the day time so as many of the European arrivals can be quickly turned and go right back out.

Not for Delta's aircraft. Besides, airplanes don't have feelings!
