I am hoping that one of the VS Gurus on the board could let me know whether the 343's flyting to New York have been upgraded with the new Premium Economy seat ? And do they have V:Port or one of the older IFE systems.

A good website for everything relating to VS is www.v-flyer.com it should have info on what you need. As the new PE seat has only just been revealed, i doubt it's made its way too far into the fleet yet?

I thought all the A343 were been phased out and been replaced by -600. I know that some have already gone to Virgin Nigeria. A huge aircraft size difference I know but perhaps it's because of VS growth over the past decade.
If that is the case then I doubt that any A343s have upgrade PE or V:port systems.
A B772/789 or even A359 would be a great replacement for these birds. Could mean more destinations (Especially from MAN!!) that don't warrant 747/A346 aircraft.
As BA777 says, check V-Flyer.

VS have removed the older A343 and only kept a few. these are newer and are fitted with the Odyssey IFE system, featuring 15 movies and several tv channels on a loop. Games and map included.
These a/c were recently reconfigured with the Upper Class Suite, so will most likely last for a few more years at least.
They will most likely be last or not recieve the new PE upgrade. As of now, only the A346s and Heathrow 747s will recieve the PE upgrade. This will most likely change.
The white zone is for immediate loading and unloading of passengers only

The remaining 5 A343 are due to stay in the fleet for a good few years yet. There is even a chance that some of the older ones currently on lease to VK could return, and G-VAEL has yet to find a home and still rests outside the hangar at LGW (last I heard)
VS sometimes need extra capacity pretty quickly so these aircraft may yet be refitted with new seats and IFE and returned to service.
As of now 11 of the 17 A346 have the new premium seats. All will be fitted by early '07. After that the LHR B744 will be fitted, followed by the A343 and LGW aircraft.

Their is a rumor that both A340-311s G-VAEL which is currently in Zurich undergoing lease return maintenence with SWISS, and 9Y-JIL which will return to the lessor around March 07 will both be leased to Varig if negotiations are successful.
