Just announced by local media, Czech Airlines is axeing flights to DXB due non profitability of the route. Move corresponds with earlier decision of CSA managment not to replace longhaul fleet. Hope EK will replace them soon.

They stopped CMB in APR06. On the top of DXB they will also axe EDI, ORK and SJJ. According summer 07 draft they plan to open PRG-MXP-BOD v.v. New type will enter fleet in S07 - 319 - 2 frames planned for delivery (OK-MEK,OK-MEL) and 3 320 (OK-MEH,MEI,MEJ).

Quoting Danny (Reply 4): I saw 290 Euro fare recently for DUB-PRG-DXB which indicated that this route was under performing.
Fligts to DXb will be axed eff 08JAN07.
S07 schedule shows increasing of frequencies on a lot of destination. I received it only today and have to work it out to give you detailed info. But sure some 737 will be retired.

For me their flights from DXB on the specific days they flew weren't viable. I had to go to PRG from the ME a couple of months ago and i decided to go cargo plane to BRU and then Sabena/CSA to PRG so i can understand the low load factors.

OK-FGS was the last 737 classic built
Quoting PRGDLGUY (Reply 9): they have make decision within a couple of month. Or they will just discontinue long haul ops.
I m affraid that the decision was done already, few weeks ago it was published that no new longhaul equipment will be purchased. But who knows, last change of government can mean also change of managment and change of mind. Present managment does not look very professional IMHO and change would be just good step to improve position of this airline, which is going to celebrate 85th anniversary in 2008, and I hope they will.

Quoting Meacedar (Reply 10): How is PRG-BEY doing? If they are cutting of DXB, why not BEY? Who would go to BEY and not DXB?
BEY is doing well for CSA, flew them to BEY twice, always full with pasengers to France, eastern europe, germany and the UK
DXB is now becoming a low yield destination as competition is getting tougher and tougher
Next destinations, Suarabaya, beirut, paris, Accra

Perhaps this will be the golden opportunity for EK to do the much awaited double sector DXB-VIE-PRG. However, they might need to use a different equipment on this. Perhaps a 772 and during peak periods a 773/77W?
I have flown CSA several times and cannot really complain. I agree with you PRGLY, the current management is not the best they could have picked.

Quoting Planemanofnz (Reply 16): Hopefully the American routes won't be touched.....or will they?
If current management will keep the line and will not replace ageing 310 fleet it can happen that OK will disappear from North American skyes after 40 years. Utilization of 310 is very high reaching about 14,5 hours daily in the air and first frames were purchased in 1991 so they should be very close to their limits soon. Very very sad. Just for a.nuts in ME CSA will operate KWI in S07 using 320, so they are not going to vaporize from there totaly.

Quoting Emirates2005 (Reply 19): PRGLY, you seem to have very good connections/info on CSA. Would you know if they plan to replace A310s with A330s?
As I have mentioned not in the near future, but I do expect change of managment soon and may be than.
Emirates2005 - you seem to have very good connection/info on EK. Would you know if they plan to open PRG? I ve send them my C.V. year ago and except of confirmation letter no other news received. Thanks

Looks like a sizable expansion of Sky Europe in Praha. I guess this in on top of the existing AMS,ATH,BCN,CTA,NAP,DBV,SPU,BGY,NCE,ORY,FCO. How many aircraft based in PRG does it make ?

now 2 73W based in PRG but expansion is planned. Yes they will maintain actual schedule plus new destinations in S07. Guess they will need 2 additional aircarfts to cover all planned traffic.
