It has been confirmed that from now on Aerolineas Argentinas will use the new terminal at EZE for all its internation flights (From the 5th December to be precise).
Certainly this is a welcome piece of news due to the fact that the old Aerolineas terminal in EZE was nothing short of a shambles both in terms of the condition it was in (built for the 78 world cup so it was dated) and the sheer lack of size compared to passenger movement.
It seems that upstairs (which is the departure concourse) is still in operation as looking at the aa2000 website the gates from the old terminal are still in use with AR which probably is to stop them moving operations around. I was in the terminal last week (the new one) and it seems they are building some kind of connection between the old and new terminals to give access to gates but as I say, AR are well and truely in the new area which is great news.
This brings me to two questions:-
1. What will they do with the downstairs part of the old terminal? The first floor remember is still in use for departing passengers for gate access.
2. In general what is the idea with the old terminal? I mean there cant be much they can do as the ATC tower is there.
This is great news for Buenos Aires as EZE is really looking sharp at the moment with lots of development going on - I just wonder if we'll start seeing any new carriers in 2007?

Thanks for the links which I found interesting but they dont really relate to my thread nor am I replicating anything already written or did you send them as an extra for me to read? If so thanks for that.
My thread is an informative one advising of the fact that AR will use the new terminal for its international flights and also giving me the change to ask about certain things happening within the old terminal, the ATC tower and also new carriers.
Thanks anyway for posting the links - they were a good read and really hope that AA2000 keeps going forward and start justifying the damn departure tax!!!

AA200 added new jetways to Terminal A?
I can imagine the chaos at night when all the flights to USA from AR,UA,CO,DL and AA depart between 8pm and 11pm!
I remember when I was a kid and you could almost touch the airplanes, just standing a few feet away, just a fence was the only separation between the parking lot and the airplanes.
Then they build that awkward, ugly wall and bridge connecting terminal B and A, and the fun was over...
Well, at least Terminal A looks great, and with AR operating there, EZE looks more busy and international!

What about arrivals ?
Are there plans to enlarge the immigration an customs facility next to the duty free shop ?
I dont remember it being that big to handle all the foreign carriers , plus AR
