There were a couple of MD-80s in full NK livery sitting over by the FX ramp at DTW last night. I thought that NK had retired all of their MD-80s. Are these birds going to another carrier, or what is their story?

There have been three NK MD-80s parked there since last July. They are parked there until they get buyers I supposed. There also was an all white Spirit MD-80 parked by the Spirit hangar last time I was at DTW. Some carrier I believe in Venezuela bought a handful of them. There was a picture not too long ago of this carrier flying MD-80s still in Spirit colors.

Otherwise, yes all the MD-80s are out of Spirit scheduled service. I think the last flight was in August or something.

I was at DTW weekend before last.
N808NK & N835NK were on the west side.
N804NK (white) & N814NK were outside the NK hangar. Since I was renting from Enterprise, they are right next to the hangar. I was really up close.

Listen Betty, don't start up with your 'White Zone' s*** again.

N814NK must have been one of the planes on the west side. I was spotting at DTW on December 1, and there were still 3 MD-80s there at the time. Maybe N814NK is heading out and they were preparting it at the hangar.
