UK Government To Press For Airport Expansions

UK government is likely to push forward plans for a third, short, runway at Heathrow and a second runway at Stanstead.
This is expected to come from a progress report on the 2003 Aviation White Paper.

Seems like the government still has a battle with local planning authorities though.....

Where are they gonna put a 3rd runway at LHR?, as far as i can see, no where, what's the point of demolishing a few housing and industrial estates putting a load of people out of work and giving one big headache for residents on finding new homes to live in where there is a shortage of housing? unless BAA are gonna build new homes and Industrial estates and pay for it.

Part from that, BAA are to have their wings clipped and are forced to sell on of the UK airports,Gatwick or Stansted have been mentioned,if this happens,then a new thinking method into what would the next plan be.
