Good!!! Hopefully the increase in competition between Virgin, BA and Kenya Airways will lead to stable or lower prices just like at LOS where the competition between BA, Virgin, Virgin Nigeria, Afriquiyah and Bellview ensure reasonable prices to London. BA has a slight edge in terms of quality of service and the four class configuration..

Well VS are receiving a brand new Airbus 346 every month, so I reckon they just swop the aircraft round on the routes where either the A343 or A346 is most needed.

Good news indeed. Washington is also going double daily next summer, with an extra evening flight, using A340-300's.

Nope, they're receiving one this month, and one in February, but then none until July.

Where do the extra Heathrow slots used to operate these new services to ORD and NBO from? Is VS still leasing slots from other airlines or have they actually acquired new slots?

Excellent, I think VS will really give BA/KQ a run for their money, particularly on the IFE front, something not yet seen in Kenya (AVOD)

Except that currently the A343 scheduled for this route does not have AVOD.

It's only the A346's and the LHR based 744's that currently have AVOD.

Could VS launch services to ADD too?
I think ET would be the region's best air partner for VS.

I am thrilled that VS is coming to NBO, although I am surpised that it is an evening flight.
Would it be much more convenient to offer a morning flight to enable early morning connections and then fly out of NBO in the evening to enable morning connections at LHR?

Just as a note for comparison, how many flights a day does KQ have on the route?

These are the LHR-NBO flights in April 07:

British Airways - Daily B744, 3x Weekly B763
Kenya Airways - 9x Weekly B772*

*1x weekly flight is operated via MBA on the return (Sa)

Slot availability at LHR as well as scheduling issues might very well preclude VS from setting up such a schedule. While scheduling new flights at Heathrow, one can by no means be picky...

I disagree with you on that one. KQ has come a long way and their service (not to mention the 772's) is awesome.

Agree. ET has a way to go in service levels. Their 757s from LHR are pretty bad.

However, KQ has a strong partnership with KL... VS would have no chance with them.

Quoting AF022 (Reply 21):

Their operations to/from Europe might be focused on O/D services, so they do not have to operate bigger and better aircrafts as yet.
An interesting point is that VS is also focused on O/D services.

Your right !!!!

I just did a quick check on the Gal system and LH nor AF dont run the route !!!
I can see that AF may not as KL already do it.. but I would have thought LH would have instead of LX ...

next flights: LTN-EWR (Y7) / CAK-PHL-EWR (US) / EWR-LTN (Y7)

LX (and former SR) have a long tradition to serve NBO (since many decades). Why should LH then?

to be truthfully honest there was no basis for my comment... I just figured that LH being the daddy of them both, they would have NBO in their portfolio and run it in place of LX... Just my opinion  Smile

26 ZRH: Why? LX is also running the flight to SCL istead of LH.
