I imagine this is not public knowledge and would be proprietary to both UA and AFA.

It might be to see where CO falls in UA seniority and vice versa. More of a measurement calculation as opposed to dire espionage.
A seniority list is not crucial to the airline, but it is for internal departmental (inflight) purposes (who bids what, who flies what positions, who gets better vacation schedules, pay, etc.).
Sometimes you would just wonder where you might fall at another airline, if your seniority crossed over.

Nuggetsyl, interesting question and totally legitimate! I saw in your profile that you're EWR based so it wouldn't be that big of a deal since United does not have a base there anymore. There is some recall rights for the couple hundred FA's that were previously based in EWR put in the contract when that base closed if there was ever a merger with an airline based in EWR.
What is your seniority/hire date? I know we did an enormous hiring in 97/98 which tapered off to about 1,000-1,500 hires a year thru the first half of 01. In 2006 we hired just shy of 1,500 and we have plans for slightly more than that for 2007.
Hope this helps add some context!

Quoting Flyua (Reply 8): Jory-- Hello from SFO! I'd heard we were hiring 2200 new flight attendants this year. What happened?
Will they hire hearing impaired folks like me?! LOL!

My UA friends tell me they are still hiring. Apparently there is a huge failure and dropout rate due to the high cost of living in the stations where the newbies are assigned. They can't afford to live away from home on the paltry entry level salaries offered by United (and other airlines). If you can't make your rent in the expensive Dulles, SFO, LAX and ORD areas, then it's time to move home or find another job.
Also a lot of people have been written up and fired for stupid nonsense. You'd think current FA's would WANT new-hires, seems they don't though they just write them up. It's all about acting like you have power over someone. Good Grief!

Gotta love back-stabbing coworkers. makes you wonder if they'd watch your back in a real emergency.
Quoting UAORD2000 (Reply 9): The FA seniority list is avail only on skynet from a United server. What's your date of hire, and I can tell you where you would fall.
Probably your best bet, just looking at a seniority list can be a pain if you don't have someone to guide you,so many issues like leave status, illness, management upgrades cloud the picture.

BiCoastal, I'm afraid your statements of new hire attrition rates are incorrect and unfounded. I just looked at the attrition rate at a recent mgr's meeting and it's absolutely NOT even close to "alarming" levels as some might suggest. Sadly I can't get into specifics due to the confidential nature of this data, though I can say it's about on-par with previous generations of new-hires.
FlyUA, hey there! Anything is possible in regards to the numbers of new hires that are projected for 2007. At this point what we know is the training center will be running at a very healthy clip similiar to what we saw in 2006.
