Would anyone know which aircraft type(B744 type A thru E/B772ER type A or type B) are used out of the following US cities? I am interested in which J cabins are offered as the pitch can vary greatly. The type designation was obtained from the KE website.

JFK
IAD
ATL
DFW
ORD

Thanks,

Not 100% sure what you are asking but I hope this helps.

JFK - 777-200ER and 747-400
ATL - 747-400
DFW 777-200ER
IAD - 747-400
ORD - 747-400
LAS - 777-200ER
LAX - 777-200ER and 747-400
SFO - 777-200ER

Looks to me like the 747-4B5 and 777-2B5/ER are used on all the North American routes.

Thanks AlitaliaMD11,

They type I referred to A, B,, C, D, E is from the KE website. They use the letter designations to distinguish the various cabin configurations. From the website it appears the seat pitch in business can vary from 48" to 61". I am thinking about flying KE from North America to Sydney via ICN and am looking for the best seat pitch.

FWIW, the aircraft on the ICN-HNL route seems to vary by season. It used to be a 772 until a couple of months ago, when it reverted to a 744. Last I checked, it was back to a 772.

Quoting AlitaliaMD11 (Reply 1):

744"E" is the only combi aircraft KE has, and it goes HKG and TSN only.
"C" and "D" is old config, while "A" and "B" is newly modified one. KE is upgrading its 744s from "C"/"D" toward "A". 772 is same. The wider one is newer. What I know is only "new" or "old", don't know if it is "A" or "B".

JFK - 777-200ER(NEW) and 747-400(NEW)
ATL - 747-400(mostly NEW)
DFW 777-200ER(OLD)
IAD - 747-400(mostly NEW)
ORD - 747-400(NEW)
LAS - 777-200ER(OLD)
LAX - 777-200ER(OLD) and 747-400(NEW)
SFO - 777-200ER(OLD)
SEA - 777-200ER(NEW)
HNL - 777-200ER(OLD)

All in one, 747 is more likely new one, while upgrading of 772ER is slower. You can always check KE's office. They are more reliable than me.

HeeseokKoo,

Just to make sure I am reading your post right. I am booked BOM-ICN-JFK on the 772 flight to JFK during the first week of January. I take it I will get to experience the new Business Class? Just wanted to make sure I was reading it right. Thanks.

A 330-300 is in service in BOM-ICN route. Not likely to experience new interior. B 747-400 and B 777-200ER serve ICN-JFK route with new interior and flat-lie seat (so called cocoon seat) in Biz class (2-3-2 Seats Config. for both aircrafts).

Why don't you go shopping at ICN ?

Thank you HeeseokKoo,

The info you provided is exactly what I am looking for. I will probably fly out of JFK or ORD as I want to be sure and fly on their newest cabin. North America via ICN to Sydney is a long journey and I want to be as comfortable as possible.

Does KE use a mix of aircraft on ICN-SYD depending on the season...A333, B744 and B772ER?

IIRC from last month, KE had 744s down at SYD.

...and just to add, the B744 service to SYD is with the OLD interior.

Quoting AirKorea (Reply 6):

Hey, SR103. The information given by AirKorea is right. Actually there is no sleeper first class on 772ER OLD version, but 772 flight to JFK already has sleeper first class (class P), which means that it is NEW one. Only SEA and JFK are destinations of 772-with-P-class according to www.seatcounter.com. This method does not valid for 747, since OLD 747 also has P class.
