MAD-GIB Flights - How Are They Doing?

Since a few weeks, IB flies MAD-GIB and back with an A319, five or six times a week, don't know exactly. I wonder how the flight is doing in terms of loads (and revenues) ?

Thanks in advance.

Too early to tell. Both IB and BA started their inaugural flights GIB-MAD-GIB on December 16 -- last Saturday.

Thanks ! But why aren't the BA flights listed in Amadeus ?

I have no access to Amadeus. However, looking at the BA website, it is quite a shocker to see the prices for this late December booking. Out of Gibraltar starting on the 19th of December there are five daily flights ranging from GIP/GBP 223.00 to 358.00 ONE WAY to MAD. Coming back, starting on the 26th of December the price ranges from 295.00 to 517.00. These prices are on the basis of a round trip purchase.

I think I'd walk across the border to La Frontiera and take a bus to Algecieras and then a train to Madrid for that amount of money. Maybe it is just the holiday season and the prices will return to normal. I assume that the operator is GT and not BA.

LOL, RIXrat - the prices you are looking at for BA are for GIB to MAD VIA LGW!

I dont thinlk BA scheduled flights have started properly yet.

Iberia has an almost daily flight:

DEP MAD: 11.50 ARR GIB 13.00 IB3180 (A319) Daily ex Mon

DEP GIB: 13.50 ARR MAD 15.00 IB3181 (A319) Daily ex Mon

Round trip from about 70 Euros

Door5right,

Mea culpa. I guess the BA site does not have it all in order yet, since you say that the price which I quoted from the website is the fare from GIB-LGW-MAD. It's a long way around, but in this case the prices make sense.

So, I guess in this case all come up scratching their heads, because the tour map of BA still does not show the direct GIB-MAD connection. Blame it all on BA for not updating their information.

I assume that the flights will be carried out by GT on their LGW-MAD route and then just add on the leg to GIB. Anybody?

You don't need access. You can look up flight schedules without being registered.

But BA hasn't started flying GIB-MAD yet. From the article Laxintl provided:

Quoting Article:
while British Airways is to operate a regular service from May.

Still, even for June, Amadeus doesn't show a BA flight.

First flight almost full.
Normally 30-40 pax per flight.

Wait another 6-8 months, then you can tell more about the success or failure of this route. It is currently in the middle of winter, when there is traditionally less traffic to destinations around the Mediterranean.
