I am not sure if it is going to be pulled down that quick, I am not even sure if it is this hangar which is shown in the picture. Actually, the old 707 hangar is scheduled for demolition once the NW runway is finally OK'd, they need the space for a taxiway connecting it. Actually a shame because it is a landmark building.
What anniversary aircraft is that 733 supposed to be? Would be interersting to read the full article.

the hangar will be pulled out in the forthcoming months as the airport will expand Terminal 1. other buildings of the LH Base will also be pulled down.
quite a number of departments have moved to the new Lufthansa building which was opened last summer which in turn frees up space in the buildings.

If only pure sweetness was offered, why's this bitter taste left in my mouth.

Which 1's?
How are they replacing what they are pulling down?

Any photos of the new building.

well, obviously they're expanding the western part of Terminal 1, to be more precisely, Terminal 1A.
sorry, I can't show a pic.

OK, the T1 extnesion does not affect the old hangar.
The T1 extension is a straight line from the terminal. If they rename the piers,m it should be A, the old A should be B and so on,m butg I think they will find another solution. That new poier will extend over the space still occupied by the old LH base, those offices have been moved "across the road" to that new building,
The hangar must be torn down once the new runway is build, they need the space for the taxiway.

I think you are referring to the wrong hangar. the extension of T1, while being built on space occupied by today's LH Base, will require one of the three hangars to be torn down, so that aircraft will have ample space to taxi to and from the new gates. the one I am referring to is called 'Schmetterlingshalle', i think, and it houses the maintenance stations for the 737 fleet IRIC.

So is that hangar being replaced by the new LH Technik hangar.
the new LH technik hangar is on the south side, was actual build as Condor Cargo Technik and I really don't know when it was renamed, I am driving past the building several times a week and I noticed the name couple of months ago. Next to that, the A380 hangar is under construction right now.
The old hangar's fate is more or less concluded but the final decision must come once the NW runwaqy is authorized, which is scheduled for 2007 - hopefully.
there is an image of the A380 hangar as well. A picture of the contruction wouold not give much informaiton. Right now, there are a couple of concrete structures, the foundation is more or less finished.
