Hola Amigos,

Can anyone please make it clear to me, what is the relationship between these 2 airlines?

I flew last August with OceanAir from SAA to FOR on a Fokker 100 in a very pleasant flight.

I was quite surprised when I saw the c/s of the airliner as it seemed exactly like the one of Avianca from Colombia.

I did, however, forgot of that for a long time now, but I would like to know why is this...

Thanx

Both airlines have the same owner: The Brazilian Sinergy Group of German Efromovich.

I believe the owner of Avianca owns Ocean Air in Brazil. Ca't remember his name. He bought a load of ex-AA F100s and some went to Ocean Air and some to AV i believe...similar liveries, different companies- I think he is doing sort of what LAN has done with different companies in various South American countries.

Please correct me if I am wrong!

Thanx a lot guys...

OceanAir seemed very efficient and friendly airline.

Our tickets were also the cheapest with O6 over flying with JJ or G3.

Yeah, O6 is a good startup carrier... their main disadvantage is that they do not credit miles on Avianca Plus yet.
OceanAir also has plans to change its name to Avianca "Aerovias del Continente Americano" and adopt itself to the hole Avianca marketing next year.
I think when those changes occur their air services are going to be the best of Brazil.

In fact Sinergy owns both airlines. No one owns the other.

Someone (upper management of AV) told me that AV decided to purchase the B-787s for long range and the A319-A320 for mid-short ranges. (This again are only rumours...)

I would rather love to see them, getting those Airbusses from Airbus ...... I am sure, they would be more than happy, selling them brand new ones Big grin

Support Airliners.net - become a First Class Member!

Avianca needs a 767 replacement sonner then later, their first 762ER are from 1990. The 787 would be the right size, operating a mixed fleet with A320's sounds over complicating things.
