EK will start to fly to Venice from Jul 1, now it's official:

EK 135 DXB VCE 09.45 14.15
EK 136 VCE DXB 15.45 23.35

Being VCE the 19th destination in Europe, the 3rd in Italy, I am a bit surprised EK is not still serving countries like Spain, Netherlands, Belgium or Scandinavia.
In any case I believe Venice is the right choice, the city and its region have a great potential to attract a lot of pax incoming from the Far and Middle East, and to originate enough premium and leisure as well.

Venice Tourism Board probably put up quite a bit of cash on offer to EK if they start flying there, smart move in any case...
