I went on to www.flightarrivals.com and two World Airways aircrafts were going to land soon. The aircrafts are a DC-10 and MD-11. I don't know if this is a charter flight, but its probably not a diversion. I'm checking to see where these aircrafts came from.

It ain't no normal MD80 its a Super 80!

303WL DC-10F is an arrival from SDF, and 276WA MD-11F is also an arrival from SDF. Both are operating extra segments for UPS for the holiday season.

I wonder if UPS was sending packages from SDF to MSP to hop onto NW metal. Were they in time to make any of the intl flights?

One of the first things a new A.netter should learn, if they expect to be taken seriously, is that the plural of aircraft is aircraft, not aircrafts.  Smile

I didn't know a-net was a series of english lessons. I guess we all learn new stuff daily here and it's not limited to the airline industry.

Well, if this were a hunting forum and a member used the word "deers", do you not think the same type of response would be forthcoming?

Hate to admit it, but reading the word "aircrafts" makes me cringe too. Almost as much as when I see the phrase "short finals".

I keep on forgetting that if I'm talking about two or more planes I say aircraft, not aircrafts. Thank you for letting me know.

Did the aircrafts go in the hangers to be unloaded?

World carries packages as well? I know in the summer they were loading up their MD-11 at the HHH terminal with soldiers.

Three months ago, I believe, a Omni Air International DC-10 or MD-11 tookoff at MSP. I went onto flightarrivals.com, but did not see any Omni flights. Does anybody know why that airplane was there? Correct me if I'm wrong spelling Omni, the Check Spelling thing had Omani.

Omni does not operate MD-11's....would have been a DC-10. It was likely a tech stop from Middle East/Europe to Hawaii.

World operates both passenger and cargo MD-11's and DC-10's.

Peak season....they requested the extra lift.

This is a program that has been around for years. Every year, UPS looks to all cargo carriers to furnish additional lift to the main-stream UPS schedule for approximately a 10 day period leading up to Christmas. For years, World has lead all of the competition in performance standards while flying these flights for UPS.
They are highly profitable routes over a very short period of time. And no, they do not feed Northwest "metal" out of MSP.

Rgds,
Ed

About a half hour ago a DL 772 departed from MSP. At first I thought it was a 767, but I was shocked that it was a 777. Why was this plane at MSP?
