Is it possible to put 142 pax into an A-319 in a two class layout. On their web site they have 134 in one class layout.

I heard that JAT is planing on stuffing 142 pax on the A-319's they will get. Is that even possilbe. How low would the seat pitch be, if there is any.

I hope this is a mistake.

Your opinion?

Is C3 offering 2 classes? Also, that is a charter airline so it's understandable. This is JAT here. A scheduled airline. At one point a quality airline. Are they trying to get worse (in their situation they really would have to try).

This is not possible. This must be a 320. Swissair for example has flexible C/Y seating in the 32x family: 320 only Y (no C) class: 150 pax; 319 only Y: 126 pax.

142 is max seating no 2 classes that is imposible!! C3 is not a charter it is sched and that is what the 319's will be used for, sched service. Furthermore, JAT may be a sched airline, but that doesn't mean that it's service or performance is any better then C3. JAT is not exactly europes leading airline, and I would not be surprised to see them with full econo A319's

Canada 300 is going to have 142 pax on the A319 but that will be a single class charter layout...seat pitch of 30" or so. That is not acceptable for a national carrier such as JAT.

JAT is going for two classes, I know that for a fact. Why would they just stop their two-class layout now. They have it on their 727's, 737's and DC-9's and DC-10. I see no logic in just turning all economoy. It must be a mistake.

The A319 seats 132 in all-Y configuration; total of 22 rows with standard 32-in pitch. In addition a extra galley unit/Coat Closet behind the last row can be used as another row, with 2 pax. Total:134.

Some airlines may choose 30-in or even 29-in pitch, in which case another 2 rows can be added, taking capacity upto 144.

The only problem with increasing pax capacity this way, is that DGCA safety regulations require a certain no of exits for say 10-15 pax, and th acft may not have them.

This is why the 737-900 is restricted to 189 pax, same as the smaller 737-800. It can theretically carry upto 210.

Believe it or not, according to Air France's web site they put 142 pax on their A-319's!!!!!!
Although according to the seat plan it is only one class, "Tempo" class. That really surprised me. Why don't they have Bussines class on their A-319's?
