Just coming across on FoxNews:

A US Airways Expreess flight (Charleston, SC to Portland, ME) made an emergency landing at LGA after a note mentioning explosives was discovered. I believe it's flight 4122 which FlightAware lists as a Dash-8.

Umm...US Express doesn't fly Dash 8's from CHS to PWM. Piedmont has a flight 4122 from LGA to PWM that is a Dash 8. Could it have been that flight?

How typical that the news gets the information wrong.

Yes - I checked on FlightAware and noted the same thing. Perhaps the flight originated in Charleston and somehow continues onto Portland. I was just regurgitating what the news had reported.

I'll be darned. Might be a Saturday thing. The only time I've ever landed there was during a diversion. I'm just as happy if it's a daily though!

Yeah, FlightAware seems to confirm that. The only other CLT-CHS flight (at first glance) was on the 17th of Dec.

It's the first one. The other flight mentioned was showing me that we are flying out of CHS again.

That explains it. I was a bit confused when different flight numbers where mentioned.

I haven't seen anything in the news about the threat.

I was actually flipping through the channels and caught Fox News by chance when I heard this. As much as I hate Fox News...Fox News never identified the type of aircraft.

It was one of ours apparently. It was US Airways Express 3068 LGA-PWM returned to the gate in PWM after the Captain was handed a note of some sort. It was a through flight that originated in CHS, thus the confusion.
I have no further details.

Taxiing in at LGA today (12/24) there was a a USairways painted EMB 145 surrounded by police...FWIW.

I think part of the reporting problem stems from their desire to be the first to report something. In their rush to do so, they seem to overlook the factchecking process.

I was glued to the TV for football-related purposes and don't even know what the final outcome was. Subsequent efforts to find any news about the story have proven to be fruitless!!!

Hello all! (this is my first post on A.Net!)

I just came across this local news story in the Portland Press Herald that sheds a little more light on the topic. Apparently the flight wasn't a Dash 8 after all, but an Embraer 145. The flight was Chautauqua 3068 running CHS-LGA-PWM.

Here's a quick excerpt from the article:

Tammy Budek's plane was headed to the runway at New York's LaGuardia Airport Sunday afternoon when a man seated nearby passed her a note that brought her to tears.
"He said he had AIDS, and the shedding of his blood and all our blood would cure all sickness," Budek said. She said the note suggested "he was Jesus and it was time for everybody to die."
