I had a flight today from TPA-ATL on a Delta 767-400ER and much to my surprise it had the new international configuration. The cabin was immaculate with all blue leather seats with comfortable headrests in the same color leather and the new Intl' AVOD system (so I guess the International 767s will have headrests with the new leather seats!) The refreshed BusinessElite looked so much better as well and will definitely hold up for a few years until the new seats are installed.
I have to say I really am proud of Delta when I see a product like this. A few years ago I hated Delta. Their product basically was horrible. Now they have taken a whole new approach with new leather, lighting, signage, and AVOD. My seat, 28G was very comfortable and the AVOD is awseome. No Satellite TV because this was an international configuration, but passengers had the choice of numerous TV shows in every genre (i.e. comedy, drama, family, sports, entertainment) as well as many First Run movies ( I believe 20 or so) in different categories as well. If this wasn't enough, there were many audio stations and CD selections to choose from as well.
They also had a survey on the PTV under "My Flight" asking for feedback on the cabin cleanliness (asking specifically if any trash was seen on the floor, on the seat, in the seat back and if the windows were cleaned to provide a clear view), if the carpet, leather seats or any stitching was worn or torn, and asked about the comfort of the seat.
The seats definitely seemed new and not just recovered because the metal didn't have a scratch on it. Also, one neat thing was all channel selections, volume, overhead lights and FA call buttons are now controlled on the touch screen on the PTV rather than on the arm rest.
Great job Delta. Keep up the good work! I hope to see this on the 767-300s too!

That is great to know! I havent gotten any updates on whether the international 767-300ERs will be getting PTVs in economy or not. It is good to know though that the headrests are still there. The newest 757s, which featured headrests, had them removed when they were converted to Song.

Andrew,
My flight number was 444 if you know how to look up what equipment was used.
Honestly, it looked like we were one of the first people on this plane. Everything was immaculate including the paint on the outside...very shiny...looked like it had been waxed...and it was gray in Tampa and Atlanta today!
Hopefully Delta will offer headrests and this AVOD system on all International flights on the 767-300ER, 767-400ER and 777.

Personally I should suggest these -400s get sent on 34/35 ATL-DKR-JNB because the AVOD is done in coach.....better this than Mainscreen for 16 hours......
ATLFlyer..I'll look it up thanks for the flight number dude...your post has made my day, to hear AVOD on a 764.....

The FA notified us that Flight 444 would continue to San Diego; however, not on this plane because it was an internationally configured 767-400ER. I heard on the overhead speakers in Atlanta that a flight to Mexico City would depart from our arrival gate(E5) and use that plane.

hmmm... any Idea when Delta will have more of these planes done up with the new seats and AVOD? I am flying them in march and I can take a bit longer of a lay over in ATL and catch a 767-400ER to SLT instead of a 767-300 (non ER)
Also is ther any way with DL to check to see if my aircraft will have the new seats? (like if they have a different amount of seats that I could notice in the seat map etc...?)
I'm still amazed that DL has a 2-2-2 config in bizzelite on the 767's... I mean the seat is only .5 inches wider then economy.
even if I wasn't to get the new seats would it be worth taking the 767-400ER?
~Cheers-

Somehow the BusinessElite seats looked wider to me than 18.5'', but I guess they are not. Except for Continental, isn't 2-2-2 standard for a 767 in Business Class? No way they will keep 2-2-2- when they introduce the new BusinessElite seats next year...
I don't know if Delta has changed their seat maps yet, but I know that my seat, 28G, was in front of a coat closet and mini FA station when the current maps for the 767-400ER have many more rows of seats behind it before any type of divider. At first I thought it would be a problem sitting there, but it wasn't at all. The Flight Attendants were very quiet...also my seat still seemed to recline the same amount and it was nice not having anyone behind me. The window is slightly forward from the seat, so it makes it nice to put a pillow between the seat and wall for sleeping.

ATLflyer...444 on 12/26 was indeed on A/C N838MH.
Delta took delivery of this aicraft on 01/10/2001.
It was Boeing Line number 821.
Glad to hear a positive feedback on Delta's continued improvment
of its service and product!

Really??? I hope someone at MEX had the chance to take some pics of the plane as it landed on or departed from MEX. Or better yet, I hope some a.net member took that flight and will write a trip report!

Dude get over it. Your rants aren't supported. Wait until DL introduces the new interiors around the entire fleet, and then complain if you don't get it. Sheesh, with only one plane being done, what are the chances that Mr. BillReid will get it! For that kinda of attitude you should get it last.
It was coming from TPA to operate an int'l flight. Some customers on the flight to MEX got the new product, I'm sorry it wasn't you.
Big thumbs up to DL for revamping the cabins, and continue the great work!

Quoting BillReid (Reply 16): Thank you DL. Once again you don't get it.
It looks like you are the one that does not get it. Delta uses their international configured aircraft on domestic routes, in between international flights so their aircraft can make money and not sit around.
This is a quote from your profile "Some people don't get it. Business is about making MONEY!" Do you get it now????

I do too. I didn't expect to be on this airplane or else I would have brought a real camera (and not my camera phone) and taken down more information. I tried to share what I have though...
Flying on a nice, clean airplane makes all the difference to me. I feel like the entire experience is better and it makes flying what it should be.

From what I can see on delta.com, the 764 actually flew to LGW, not MEX. DL.com shows flt 444 as having arrived at E5 at 4:38, and at 7:15 (scheduled 5:50 departure) they show flt 12 to LGW as the flight that 764 continued on.

Nice to see the "new" 764er. I thought the 764 fleet was going for the new Virgin style Business Class not the existing version with AVOD in both classes.

Quoting ATLflyer (Reply 22): How many 767-400ERs does Delta have?
21.
Quoting ATLflyer (Reply 22): And will they convert all of them to this new configuration?
IIRC, 8 will get the BizE configuration, and a further 5 will fly longhaul in regular domestic layout. Although, we can expect more to be used for longhaul flights. Heck, if DL will indeed ETOPS-certify their non-ER 763s as I have read somewhere, we could see all 764s on longhaul flights (that includes 2x ATL-HNL and 1x CVG-HNL), with the majority with BizE and the rest in standard domestic layout.

knew that 767-400ER was freshly painted too! It was too shiny not to be!
Take a look at the pic I took of it above and this one...the widget on the one I took is definitely the "original" widget...what Delta is going back to...rather than the curved widget.
