Has CX ever planned their A340-600 from YYZ to HKG? Or are they planning to do so?

Thanks
Brad

No. A340-600 is for HKG-JFK nonstop, and that takes up two planes. The third usually go to LHR and sometimes TPE, KIX, SYD, etc.

I heard CX is starting nonstop to YYZ when the 777-300ER comes into service next fall. A340-600 will stay in the fleet for HKG-JFK for a while until enought 773ER comes, then they will be sold to other airlines.

I've also heard that the A340-600 will stay in the fleet and will be used on the YYZ route for a while I think I read that on this board. Though I think they are planning a second daily non stop to JFK so the A346 will stay on that route while the first 2 77W's will also be used on the JFK route, second flight.

What's up with all these airlines with the A340-500 and 600's replacing them with the new 777's? Is it because of fuel prices or reliability, maintenance etc.

Thanks
Brad

Cheaper to run I think mainly, and better range on the 777.

The plan is always changing and nothing is confirmed, however rumours have it, that as it stands, when we get enough 777-300ERs to launch a longhaul route, they will be used to launch the 2nd daily JFK non-stop. The A346s will leave the fleet at the same time so it is possible that YYZ will never receive A340-600s scheduled into there.

True plus overall savings of two engines versus four. It all really depends on the airline. I would love to see CX fly the A346 into YYZ, but chances are it will be a 300X as they have more of that type in inventory.

I've seen the A346 back in the summer of 2003 at Vancouver airport. Atleast I think so if I've not mistaken.

Thanks

The first CX 77W is delivered in Sept 07 IIRC. Rumours persist about a second daily YYZ...any news about that?

Cheers,
Kaz
