Southwest does not fly the 727; they once leased 727s from Braniff and PeoplExpress in the late '70s and early '80s. It was an experiment that was not particularly successful, and ended, as WN went back to an all 737 fleet, welcoming the -300s to the fleet in the 80s, and then the 500/700 in the 1990s.

FYI, there are no 727s in SWA's fleet. One was leased in the late-1970s for 18 months or so, and 5 or 6 were leased in the mid-1980s until the first 737-300s went into service in early1985. So, it's been about 15 years since a 727 has flown for SWA.
