So I was fooling around with the AA timetable, and it appears that after April 10th (the same day AA starts AUS-SEA nonstop), there will no longer be a 757 on DFW-AUS, but there will be a 757 AUS-DFW. If we aren't getting a 757 from DFW, is SJC getting one from somewhere, or are we getting one from somewhere else? I just don't understand how we can keep rotating 757s out from AUS-DFW, without getting one put in from somewhere.
FWIW, all the AUS-SJC flights that were 757s remain so.

Maybe they do a SJC-AUS-SEA-AUS-SJC "V" routing? I haven't checked the scheduled flight times to see if the SJC-AUS flight can turn in AUS and do the SEA roundtrip, or if they get subbed in at SEA, etc.

The problem with that is that AUS-SEA-AUS is an MD-80 (God help us all...4 hours in an MD-80!). I did, actually check to see if any SJC-SEA flights were AA on a 757, but they aren't. Needless to say I'm stymied, because the schedule made perfect sense to me, before this development. It gave AA a good way to cycle the 757s used on AUS-SJC-AUS flights throughout the network, by having one 757 arrive from DFW in the afternoon. Go to SJC, come back to AUS late that same night. Leave to SJC early next morning. Come back to AUS that same afternoon, and then go to DFW, while another 757 is on the ground waiting to do the same thing. Now, without that inbound DFW flight, I don't understand the logistics of being able to continue the AUS-DFW flight.
Unless they ferry an aircraft in every night (that doesn't seem reasonable at all) to do the early morning SJC run, I'm puzzled.
The full AUS schedule may not be complete yet. I have noticed the same irregularities with the STL schedule. There are currently three more 757s going out then coming in. Possibly your answer will become evident in the weeks to come.
