I was on SQ15 a while back and was taking some snaps inside the plane when one of the steward came to me and said that it was not allowed to take photos inside the plane.
Is this really true? If so is this an SQ policy?
I would like to take some pix and if possible some videos during my next visit. Is there an official way to do it?

It's not an international rule. I've done it many a time. I even took photos on board an SQ flight last year and FA's were aware of it, no complaints. I've also taken pictures of several NZ Link aircraft flight decks without any complaints from the crew.
If it was an electronic device, maybe it was for the TO/LDG phases of flight.
Otherwise, If it is not an SQ policy, I think it ius just a confused FA (Not insulting FA's but some I've seen and heard of don't really know what they are talking about in terms of ICAO rules on board). I have heard of an NZ FA saying the same thing (that it is 'against the law') but it is nowhere to be found in the NZCAR.

As has been said, there is no International law that bans photographing inside aircrafts, only time they can't be used is during take off or landing, but most of the time the FAs can't see you taking pics cause they are in their jumpseats
99% of the time I've been told you can't take pics is by the older FAs who get their undies in a twist and who love the feel of power, especially if they snap at you. Heaps of AA FAs apparantly hate people taking pics inside aircraft.
One time when I was asked not to take pics, I asked to speak to the head FA/crew member in charge, and that person told me that its ok to take pics, much to the disgust of that certain FA. That FA was told off.

Well it was over 6 hrs into the flight. I thought may be they dont want me taking pictures that might capture their pretty female FAs. Damn, I should have protested; but these days you never know what a protest can lead you to.

I know that AA f/as's seem to be amongst the most jittery of them all. It doesn't take much to send them into a "you can't do that!" frenzy.
BTW, I was on a CO flight ORD-IAH the other night and we had a wonderful crew. There were some kids in the back taking some photos and the F/A's didn't say a thing to them. Of course, they were photographing themselves, but still.....

I've had no problem taking photos when the no electronics sign is off. During T/O and landing, I usually wait for the captain to tell the F/As to get into their jumpseats, then video the t/o or landing and snap pics etc.
Next flights PHL-LAX-PVG-PEK-HGH;PVG-LAX-ORD-PHL-EWR;JFK-PHL on UA,MU,CZ,CA,C5,OH
Quoting ZKSUJ (Reply 7): A few on youtube so I presume it's OK. During Landing as well, so I don't know how that worked. Anyone know anything about this?
