JAL will cancel 10 and more domestic routes within Japan throughout 2007.

Kobe-Kumamoto, Kobe-Sendai, Miyazaki-Kochi will be the first 3 to go the latter from January, former 2 in June/July. Other local routes within or to/from Hokkaido, Aomori, Aichi, Nagasaki, Okinawa prefecture will also be affected.

These routes to be cut recorded average load factor between 35-50%. Particularly in Kobe, due to Itami airport near by and the Shinkansen.

JAL will present its new mid-term and 2007 strategy plan, which will includes additional detail.

This is an interesting move, but as wise one for JAL. Japanese domestic flights are hard to make a profit on do to the excellent ground transportation Japan already has.

Kobe...I can understand. A total waste of tax dollars. It was built even with a lack of public support from Kobe residents. It was basically pushed through. That is democracy in Japan for you.

Aichi...is this Chubu or Nagoya Municipal?

NKM is all J-Air service. Much of it for business travelers but they have some routes to Hokkaido and other places that appeal to tourists.

Chubu has tons of Domestic routes, most operated by NH. JL has a fraction of the routes compared to NH.

Good to see JL taking moves to ensure a solid economic base.

Yes...I am not a KIX fan. Let's Japanese Aviation!

Amen to that. It frustrates me no end to see airlines waste fuel, man-hours, and wear & tear on equipment to operate pointless flights and/or routes. Bravo for JAL.
