The plane is 9V-SPK, the tower reported that the pilot said that he hit some unknown objects during take-off.

When he said "hit some unknown objects", that could also have meant while he was coming back down. The reports about other aircraft are conflicting; it was reported, then denied, then it was said two were involved, now CAL says none but there are reports of a wheel belonging to another aircraft type.

So, can anyone say whether or not another aircraft was involved?

Also, they said there was a "Class 2 Hurricane" in the area at the time!

Hmmm..i wonder if passengers can have their say about whether a plane should take off in such conditions too..

Today (the 31) is indeed the one year anniversary of the EgyptAir disaster and the 4 (?) year anniversary of the American Eagle ATR disaster in the midwest. Today is Halloween and Typhoon Elephant is hovering off the coast of Formosa. Hmmm....

This is being reported in some of the news stories and threads on other sites. Of course, at this stage, one should remember that it's only just about daybreak in TPE now (c.0800) and the true extent of the damage is probably only now becoming known. However, as I say, this HAS been reported.
