They had an item on DRS3 this morning (Swiss Radio) interviewing a spotter while the last SQ 744 landed. It was quite a long item (about 2-3 minutes) and included the sound of her going over. It's a shame, even though I'm an A fan I quite like the 744.
Of course I have been. I flew on a MH 777 ZRH-KUL-ZRH. I admit that the 777 is an excellent aircraft but I don't like it very much. Specifically from the looks. It looks like a fat sausage. The 744 is much more elegant and classic and a four holer!

Quoting ZRHnerd (Reply 17): Don't worry about the 744 guys, SA will bring the 744 in summer!
Also Thai is said to bring back the 744 to ZRH on selected dates, but I do not remember when it will happen...
Last weeks TravelInside had a report on Oasis cheap flights to HKG, and that they are looking to Zurich for possible flights from 2008 on...the same issue had a report on the rumored EOS flights NYC-ZRH too, but these flights are still not confirmed...
What about Jet Airways? I have heard that Zurich is on their short list? Any news here? Thanks

the unique looks of the 744 might be appealing from a spotter's point of view, as well as for the laymen up on the visitors terrace. I even agree to that, those old whales are beautiful and unique to watch.
But having flown both aboard an SQ 744 and an SQ 773 - not even one of the new ones - last year when I did ZRH - SIN - AUK and back, the only thing I can say is there are worlds inbetween the two in terms of cabin comfort and appeal. No pax will shed a tear for the noisier, more cramped and older looking 744 cabin once he's been inside the airy, modern, spacious 773...
