I noticed that Delta serves Anchorage year-round with 2 flight from SLC, one from SEA daily. the ATL service is seasonal. Also, there are two dailt ANC-FAI(Fairbanks) roundtrips. AA only serves ANC during the winter via SEA with one MD-80 or the Alaska codeshare. UA serves ANC in the winter with a daily 737-500 from SEA. CO has no flight in the winter (summer they have IAH-ANC and SEA-ANC.) TWA has no winter flights (summer STL-ANC and SEA-ANC)

why does Delta do this? is it profitable to run a 763ER to SEA from ANC and a 763ER along with a 757 to SLC daily while other airlines survive with one daily 737 or MD-80? Dont people in Anchorage travel? It is a city of 330,000 people... thats big. Maybe DL wants a trans-pacific hub there? Also, Delta is #2 at Fairbanks in terms of scheduled jet flights out of the 3 jet-airlines that fly there (Alaska, Delta and Condor) anyoen knwo why?

You need to double check your data. CO's SEA-ANC flight is year round. Always has been and that's never been changed for years. Alos CO is beginning summer EWR-ANC nonstops in addition to SEA-ANC year round nonstops and seasonal IAH-ANC nonstops. I also heard something about AA discontinuing ANC services during the winter.

TWA does not have SEA-ANC service at any time during the year. They operate PDX-ANC year-round with a 757 and STL-ANC during the summer with another 757.

this is what i knew i didnt check this info, so i might be a little off, but you still get my point... DL has a presence there way more then any of the others. And also, i forgot HP (America West) serves a summer PHX-ANC and ANC-PHX-ATL route. this is a once daily A319. i believe the CO EWR-ANC route is also summer seasonal.
Sorry if im a bit wrong.

Yes, CO's EWR-ANC will be seasonal. CO has always had winter SEA-ANC flights.

Starting Summer 2001 Condor will have a
Frankfurt(or maybe Munich)-Whitehorse,Yukon,Canada-Fairbanks,Alaska,USA. this is in addition to its FRA(MUC) Whitehorse-ANC route. CO has no winter flights to ANC and TWA switched its PDX-ANC flights to SEA-ANC flights in August, but in June July the flilghts were from PDX.

ps the condor to FAI flight is like once weekly with a 767-300ER

Actually CO has once daily year-round between ANC and SEA (flights 120/125) using a 737-800. According to their website schedules they do anyway...

Continental DOES have year-round flights to ANC. Trust me, I have flown on it on more than one occasion.

All summer long, we fly a 757 to ANC.

Flight 1644's routing all thru the summer is IAH-SEA-ANC, operated by 757-200.
Flight 1662's routing all thru the summer is ANC-SEA-IAH, operated by 757-200.

Continental's nonstop 757s from EWR and IAH will both operate in the summer.

I'm not sure about this but I read an article about how ANC is a major cargo hub. I think this is the main reason that Delta operates a 763...it needs the cargo space! Apparently, ANC has extensive cargo operations with numerous airlines. You might want to look into this...

TWA902fly, visit CO's website and you'll find a flight from SEA-ANC everday this winter. Are they pretending that it exists? I found NO flights on AA at all to ANC from SEA. This summer CO will have three daily flights from ANC one each to EWR, SEA, and IAH all 757's.

You missed one for Northwest flies everyday from MSP to ANC all year round 2 times a day. Of course, NW did fly from DTW to ANC and MSP to FAI with seasonal.

Also, in the summer, NW has five daily flights from MSP, four operated by 757s and one operated with a DC-10. NW serves DTW 8x weekly in the summer, with a second flight on Saturdays.

TWA has no winter flights (summer STL-ANC and SEA-ANC)

Correction:

TWA does NOT fly from SEA to ANC at any time.

However, TWA does operate a year-round flight (TW173/844) between Portland, Oregon and Anchorage, using B757s. The flight continues from PDX to St. Louis.
