BA's New Club World

A very first hello to my Airliner.net friends out there! I too have taken the leap from arm chair Quarterback to the big show  Smile

My question is regarding BA's roll-out of their new Club World. Since they now have at least one A/C with the new set-up, as per Fbgdavidsons report ( BA Next Generation Club World: LHR-IAD (w/pics) (by Fbgdavidson Jan 3 2007 in Trip Reports) ), what is their roll-out schedule? I see on their website that they plan to have the entire fleet equipped by 2008, what would that equate to for number of aircraft per month? Are they going to equipe one type first (e.g. all 747) or just as their maintenance schedule comes around?

I'm booked to fly in Club World this friday out of YYC and I'm curious what the chance would be that the 777 sched is New Club World equipped?

Thanks!

PilotRecruit

Thanks SapphireLHR.

It makes sense that they would have their 744's done first for the obvious reasons.

How many A/C have been converted thus far?

No problem, PilotRecruit.

Only NLN is in operation at the moment. This initial aircraft has to be in operational service for approx six weeks before getting type approved, once approved the rest of the fleet will begin embodiment. I beleive that there is a least one other being fitted while waiting for approval before entering service.

Did I not read somewhere that BA were guaranteeing NCW on all LHR-JFK routes from April 07. They would need around 10 to do that.

Given NLN is being sent all over the place at the moment, that may not be the case.

Hopefully there still might be enough time before April to have 10 744's equipped and i think they might just be sending NLN all over the place to get a thorough review from all of the Club World passengers.

Where have they sent it thus far? Which Club World passengers do you think they would be trying to target as their review concensus?

The 747-436 to be embodied this month are CIVS, BNLK and CIVX.

Probably not. Two flights a day are 772s (BA113 and BA173) and conversion of the 772 fleet does not start until May.

So basically the whole fleet will be with new Club World by April 2008, which will be excellent for the airline. Makes me wonder hopw soon the fleet will be replaced, considering all except the 767 series will be fitted, although Im sure I tyhought the 767s were being fitted, can anyone clarify?

Do you think we can expect approx. 3 A/C per month to be embodied?

I think that's a realistic expectation, considering there are 57 747-436 in the fleet and embodiment is due for completion in Spring 2008.

The 747-436 to be embodied this month are CIVS, BNLK and CIVX.

BNLK arrived at LHR from HKG as BA026 early in the morning of 16 December. Around lunchtime that same day it was ferried LHR-CWL (BA9183E). Since then it does not appear to have returned to LHR or, indeed to service. (Both CIVS and 'VX have been in more or less constant service between 16 December and 6 January.)

BNLN was ferried to CWL on 10 October for its refit and returned to LHR on 9 November. This suggests that BNLK will ferry back to LHR in the next 7 to 14 days (allowing for the Xmas and New Year holidays). But if all the 55 unconverted 744s are to be converted by Spring 2008 it looks as if BA will have to refit two aircraft at a time - hence CIVS and 'VX could replace BNLK at BA Engineering later this month when the latter returns to service.

Expanding on the above question, as the new aircraft roll-out will they continue to send these A/C all over the place or would they centralize these aircraft on high profiles routes such as LHR - JFK?
