Though I've not seen it, I understand LH has been running a 744 into DTW this week. I did see the BA 777 on Mon taxiing out for departure to IAH. I was surprised to see it, as it was obviously NOT a 763 coming towards me. When it barrelled down 22L, it rotated before crossing 9L-27R, so less than 6,000ft, and then vaulted into the sky. By the time it passed the Smith Terminal's Concourse C, it was probably 300ft in the air, literally. What a sight! That tells you it was extremely light, with only a handful of passengers, light fuel/baggage/cargo. Just a few extra international seats during the Auto Show, that I hope are being utilized. I guess that means the larger aircraft will last for another week or so, at best.

I saw that LHR 747 on final over Dearborn this week... had to give it a double look to realize that it wasn't a Northwest bird. Quite impressive!

On Monday I got home from work and looked up and saw a BA 777 at about 15,000 ft on the RID departure from DTW-IAH. Was a beautiful thing to see sparkling in the sun. Wish I had a powerful camera to take that picture.

Yeah ok, That's where I get my pictures - or next door at the Metro Airport Inn or whatever that is.

Do you park in the back or front of Comfort Inn? I usually go to the back less obstructions and cops don't see you back there unless someone from the hotel calls on you. My most recent pics on myaviation were taken from Comfort Inn and Metro Inn.

Well darn....wish I would have seen that! I need to pay a little more attention because any of us who live in Toledo can see the traffic on the RID departure.

Great to see the 777 back at DTW. I remember one evening a couple of years ago I was driving up 275 and saw the BA777, NW330 and LH340 take off within minutes of each other, it was great.

Looks like LH442 is a 747-400 today 1/13 as well. Tomorrow it's back to the 330.
