Apart from the SIA and Qantas follow up orders news about the A380 has all but dried up! Haven't seen any new pictures here or on planepictures.net since the beginning of the new year? Surely it must still be flying around somewhere.

Or is it not news worthy anymore since it has received certification?

Just wondering,

Peter

Well people do say that NO NEWS IS GOOD NEWS.  Wink

I would expect that Airbus will provide us with a program update at the press conference next week.

Is that the 2006 summary conferance? That aside, I dont expect to see much A380 news until the next order is announced.

Yeah there is no point just putting out news for the sake of it. I hope that they are keeping quiet and getting on with the work needed for deliveries. I would guess that one to two months before EIS there will be lots of news and hype.

That's correct EI321. I would expect journalist to make various questions in regards to the outlook an progress of the various programs. For that reason I would expect to hear additional information about the A350X and A380 programs.

Patience, late last year Mr. Gallois, CEO of Airbus/co-CEO EADS, said:

Quote:
“You will have in the near future other good news [regarding A380 orders]…from existing customers for the A380.”

Remember, the annual Airbus "order intake jamboree" is just days away (January 17th), anything could happen in the way of additional announcements.

Hopefully Mr. Gallois will prove to be a much better prognosticator of "the State of Airbus" than Dr. Humbert proved to be when he was at the head of the dais at last year's event.  Smile

The never ending thread.   They received their Type cert. They have not been given permission to start back up the asembly line (airframes ready to fly at the end of the line.) No Production Cert yet. SQ will be getting well used Demos. I believe it's still the same 12 or so hand built airframes flying around testing and showing the Flag.

I believe there's a meeting schedules at 25/01 for the TG board where the fate of their A380 order will be decided.

There's 3 scenarios's.

A) Keep the order like it is.
B) Order 6 additional A380's (reports last month indicated that this was very likely)
C) Cancel the order (if comp. negotations for delivery delays fail).
