Arkia Israeli Airlines sole B757-200, 4X-BAZ, is about to leave the airline soon, this according to unofficial news from the airline.
The jet will be used by Axis Aviation of France, an French charter airline bought by Kanfaim-Arkia group last year.
The plane, 4X-BAZ, was build in 1988 and used Istanbul Airlines and Caledonian Airlines. On February 19th 1999 the jet landed in TLV and is been used by Arkia ever since. It's primary use is on TLV-ETH route, so as in charter flights from TLV to Europe.
If indeed this jey will leave the airline, Arkia will be left with only 2 jets, B757-300 4X-BAW & BAU. In addition to its B757s, Arkia is operating 4 ATR-72s & 4 Dash 7s for Domestic flights within Israel and on Charter flights to Sinai, Jordan & Cyprus (southern part). Arkia's plans are to replace the B757s in 2 new B787 ordered last year from Boeing.
Arkia's CEO is Rafi Har-Lev, A well known man in the Israeli aviation. Har-Lev was a fighter pilot in the Israeli Air Force, discharged ranked Brig. General, later became El Al's CEO for 14 years (1982-1996).

Well, I WAS going to say that I bet Continental would snap up the -200, and then I saw how old it is. That's kinda elderly to trade hands into a major US player...
But when they retire those 753s for 788s, I bet Continental would love to snap THOSE up!
