I need to fly from JFK to LHR tomorrow and I wanted to ask all of you guys and girls about Virgin Atlantic. I've never flown with them so if you could tell me everything about their economy class service I'll appreciate. I need to buy the ticket tonight, so all coments are welcomed.
I can choose between:
JFK-LHR
VS004 B744
VS010 A340

I've flown with VS in economy 6 times and each time I've been delighted, their service is literally award winning. See their website for info' on their service.

I have flown VS a couple of times and enjoyed them. Unfortunately my dad had an unpleasant expereince with them recently. The Cabin Crew are friendly for the most part, the food is good, the best part about VS is the inflight entertainment. It is TV/Super nintendo, you can whatch movies and the selection is pretty good to choose from, I got bored of the games (maybe it was becuase I could not win!). With the TV being in the back of the seats it allows them to make the seats much higher which makes you feel like there are less people around. The seats are not the most comfortable around, but they are OK (unless a kid is behind you kicking you), I generally go walking every hour or so!!
I would choose the A340, reason being I know a capt. on them who puts my name on the jump seat!! This allows me to by a standby ticket and be garunteed to fly even if the flight is full, unfortunatley I might find myself on the tiolet during cruise where the inflight entertainment is not the same, and the seat is not as comfortable!

I say go on flight 004 because I took that flight
Virgin's Economy is wonderful.. but the middle seats in the 744 are not one who absolutely needs their space. Luckily, I'm on the short side, so while I was cramped, I wasn't unhappy. Try to get a side seat, even if it's in the middle. When I took #004, I flew on G-VFAB (Lady Penelope) and while I had no problems with the PTV's.. they were smaller than the ones coming home on flight 003, which was the Virginia Plain.
Food was above average for airplane food, the PTV's yet small on the way there, were excellent, (Loved the Sky Cam) and nothing beats the amenity kits!

It's like a flight tracker... it tells you your latitude and longitude.. the temperature in Celsius (-27C I remember) Your altitude.. how long you've been up in the air and how long you have to go.. it shows you a little plane, and it changes maps (ex. When you get close to LHR, it shows the world map, and then a UK map) It's really neat!

The last time we flew Virgin Atlantic we were on VS007 LHR-LAX G-VFAB Lady Penelope. Our seats were 64AC (window & aisle) the last row. Plenty of leg room and great service.

Although I've never flown VS, I know a lot of people who have. They give Virgin high marks. I'd a 744 or A340 there, and the opposite back (i.e. JFK-LHR 744 LHR-JFK A340 or vise versa).

Thanks to all for your advice. Before this post, I was not sure of flying VS to London, but after I read your comments, I think they are a good choice (and a cheap choice, they only charged me $400 bucks). I just finish booking my trip, and following your suggestions I'll be flying:
JFK-LHR 4 Nov
VS010 A340 Seat 61A
LHR-JFK 13 Nov
VS025 B744 Seat 45K
I'll post a trip report when I return!!
