have Etihad confirmed that the AUH-YYZ flight will become a non-stop service later in the year, and if so,when does this start?Any signs of a revised Canada-UAE bi-lateral allowing daily service between the 2 countries?

I haven't heard anything of this. Kuala Lumpur will begin this month, and Australia in the next few months.
Nothing else has been mentioned. Once more aircraft are delievered, then we may see the route structure change. They have an additional 6 A330-200, 4 A340-600 scheduled for delivery this year. Apart from the 4 A380s, Etihad have not placed any orders, and have no more deliveries pending!?!?!

I had heard that BRU would not be stopped and that EY was going to add 3x weekly nonstop AUH-YYZ, and continue there 3x weekly AUH-BRU-YYZ codeshare with SN, to equal 6x week. This is of course contigent on the UAE-Canada agreement being altered which would also allow EK to launch there daily DXB-YYZ B773 flights Oct. 27th, 2007 as planned.
