Its a rumor that i heard two days ago that EK will start from 2008 to fly to Heraklion and the reason is too simple
1st A large Greek community that origin from crete want a flight from Dubai to Heraklion and dont go through Athens
2nd Heraklion will be the biggest Container Port after Pireus and most ships will be Chinese and they want to have direct connection
3rd Heraklion is the biggest commercial and finance center of crete and this will advance the tourism from Asia mainly Koreans/Chinese/Japans & Taiwanese and also the commercial relations between China and the Greek Island.
This service will be thrice weekly and will depend if they will raise the frequency or not.

I dont think this is a serious reason to launch a route. VFR traffic never brings high yields to an airline.

OK, this is a good reason. HER has very good business potentials (especially through its port). I doubt though for the 'chinese' part of your sentence. I dont think that EK would start a route to Europe to accomodate Chinese interests and traffic. It sounds weird...

Ok...ish. It can be a secondary reason but definately not the primary one.

Even if EK flies to HER , I m sure it will be in conjunction with another Southern European station like MLA or LCA.

wanna be travel buddies ,sex buddies .. or both ?

eventhough the fact that with EK almost everythink is possible I doubt that they start such a route, but probably 1-3 flights per week is possible...
