Does any know the status of the 3 Varig B-777's at AA's hanger at AFW. They have not moved in a couple of weeks.

Maybe they are under mainenance for a new customer? If they were in storage, wouldn't they otherwise be out in the desert?

My guess would be:

N767UA - 777-222 (ex:PP-VRI)
N770UA - 777-222 (ex:PP-VRJ)
N207UA - 777-222/ER (ex:PP-VRE)

Still stored at VEM/GIG two triple-7s: PP-VRB (777-2Q8/ER) and PP-VRF (777-222/ER)

N702BA (777-236 - ex: PP-VRC) AFAIK is stored at Marana and N703BA (777-236 - ex: PP-VRD) is being scrapped.

I have no idea what they're doing at AFW, and I hope someone can shed some more light. But I will add that there were two of them sitting on the tarmac outside AA's gigantic facility when i passed by on December 22 and there were still two on the tarmac when i passed by again on January 4, just in different positions.

I always hope I'll see an AA 777 touching down or taking off whenever i pass by AFW!

Is AA doing heavy maintenance on these B-777s? Perhaps they have not been returned pending payment for the work AA did?

AFW is not usually used for storage, as there are ramp parking fees that somone will have to pay.

I can't get close enough to get regs. Today, January 17, there were only two sitting outside. The hanger doors were closed. Maybe they moved one inside.

I think Bristol Associates will take care of that since it's their plane. VARIG has nothing more to do with those frames.

I guess that when PP-VRF (the last 777-222/ER (sn 30214/254), ex: N208UA, also owned by Bristol) leaves VEM/GIG it might join it's brothers at AFW.

Perhaps they're going to be checked there before going to their next operator (any ideas?).
