I was looking for a flight to London this summer out of YHM and I found that they are now advertising London Gatwick LGW 4 times a week plus the original 7 times a week for London Stansted STN. I checked the original announcement and LGW was not on the list. There where 12 destinations advertised from YHM (also known as Toronto YHM) starting May 1st. I checked the schedules and they have not dropped any destinations and now serve 13 destinations out of YHM to Great Britain and Ireland. A friend of mine at YHM told me that Flyglobespan does not discuss there loads with the airport so they are in the dark as to how their sales are going. Another friend of mine (yes I have two) who is a travel agent told me that they are getting a lot of inquiries for service out of YHM and they seem to be selling well.
Does anyone have an information on how well they are doing out of YHM?

Not too sure on this one. GSM like to chop and change things. They seem to be having problems sourcing their 757's, although two will be wetleased from Icelandair.
For the first few weeks LGW-YHM (767) will operate via GLA. Before going daily and non-stop.
Can't help you with the loads though.

Iteresting who read this stuff. I recieved an email from someone fairly high at YHM and they said that they will be targeting the southern Ontario with a product launch this week. Thier teams will be in London, Windsor, Buffalo, Mississauga etc meeting with the travel agency. They will follow up with a paid advertising campaign soon.

Now to get from YHM to Toronto city.... if the airline could organize a coach a la Transavia/Ryanair, or there could be a connection with the Go Transit line to Union.

I just bought a flight from YHM to Stansted in June on FlyGlobeSpan about 3 hours ago. Cost was $255 dollars one way after all the fees. What a great deal! I am excited about this airline and I hope they do well out of YHM for many years. I live about 10 minutes away from the airport and it is very convenient for me. Also considering its 919 one way for the same date on Air Canada. I think I can handle a stop-over.
Has anyone actually flown with them? How is the service?

I work for them. Service is dependant on which class you have booked. Guessing you're in Economy since your very cheap ticket. You will be able to book meals online or purchase them on board as well as other drinks and snacks. Your flight will most likely be operated by the 757 which isn't in the fleet yet so at this stage it's unclear on the seating configuration etc. But entertainment wise I guess it would be similar to the 767 which is a projector in economy with PTVs in business. Although we offer cheap seats the service on board is excellent (not that i'm bias lol) and you'll have a great flight with us.

They even charge for meals on transatlantic runs? I realized they did this on flights to TFS and such, but to YHM as well? Will these flights be codeshare with Zoom and will there be probs for OOM pax as OOM has been having with GSM pax and special meals?

Yup - I'm afraid so. In economy anyway. That's the way it is for the Orlando flights at the moment.
Quoting Fly2YYZ (Reply 8): I realized they did this on flights to TFS and such
No meals on any short haul flights at the moment. Best we do is sandwiches.
Quoting Fly2YYZ (Reply 8): Will these flights be codeshare with Zoom and will there be probs for OOM pax as OOM has been having with GSM pax and special meals?
Again this is my personal view but I believe the codeshare with Zoom will end in April/May. Up until May GSM are codesharing to YYZ and on flights which are operated with GSM aircraft meals are included in economy because of the codeshare with Zoom and how Zoom offer meals regardless of class. As of the introduction of the 757 on the route to YHM airport the free meals in economy will stop and everything will be buy on board or buy online. Just my

As far as I know GSM is going to be running a Coach Bus from YHM to Downtown Toronto. I would find the refrence on the website but I have to head out the door. Good to hear someone has booked a flight.

Good to hear as YHM has to make sure GSM will get as much public attention as possible prior 1. flight...... YHM & GSM needs our help (bookings) and if we do our share we will have a fine airline & airport we can use to get to the UK......

I prefer it that way, book at a very good price and if I am hungry, well buy food or a drink.. IIRC GSM has 3 booking classes, premium, Eco plus and Eco nada..... can not wait to see them coming the first time....
I am sure with our help we can prove the airlines in YYZ: YHM rocks!!!

I can see the first one, but the latter three??? And I would say it would most likely be YHM-GLA-EDI if anything... and besides for a low fare... sign me up!

I was at YHM today and they already have a sign for Flyglobespan up behind the check in counters. They also have large banners up all through the terminal advertising the flights with maps showing the routes and connection flight through out Europe.

I have booked a flight from MAN-YHM in Aug 2007 my original date has been cancelled and I am still unable to book my seats even though i booked my flight in November 2006 As i have said before i wish i had booked a flight with TCX or TS because i honestly believe i am dealing with a cowboy company flying with GSM

They officially announced the extra London Gatwick route yesterday.
“Monday, January 29, 2007 – HAMILTON -- Richard Koroscil, President and C.E.O. of the John C. Munro Hamilton International Airport (hi) is pleased to announce that, beginning May 1, 2007, in addition to the 12 previously announced UK/Ireland destinations, flyglobespan will also be flying from Hamilton International to London Gatwick”.
“This is great news for hi. With London, England as our largest international market, travelers will be able to choose from 10 flights a week to 2 convenient airports,” said Richard Koroscil, President and C.E.O. “We’re now serving even more destinations than ever before and, as always, Hamilton International offers those traveling a friendly, hassle-free experience.”
“This announcement reinforces flyglobespan’s commitment to the Toronto, Hamilton and greater Southwestern Ontario markets,” said Tom Dalrymple, flyglobespan Chairman and Managing Director. “We’re very excited about our partnership with Hamilton International Airport and look forward to our inaugural flight on May 1st.”
As to construction at the airport to get it ready for May 1st, the footings are in for the international arrivals area expansion. They are awaiting the arrival of the steel structure.
Inside the terminal there is lots of work going on that has not been announced. They have moved the security check in area to the east to a larger area. They are adding 2 Tim Horton’s coffee shops in the terminal. One will be before and one after security. They are expected to be opening at the end of February. There will be 2 new lounges added to the terminal. Again one on each side of security. A duty free shop and a magazine store are being built after then security area. I have not confirmed it yet but there is supposed to be a restaurant built past security in the departure lounge. The present restaurant is going to be converted into a “Coyote Jack’s Grill”.
They are reconfiguring the check in area. The counters are being moved to allow a flow through by the counters. People will, after checking in and having their bag weighed, carry their bags to the belt on there own. The Common Use Self Serve check-In kiosks will have Flyglobespan added to them along with WestJet and Air Canada Jazz. They will be adding screens over every check in desk so they can change the airlines using them. There will be more scenes in the arrival area to better announce which carrousel is serving what flight.
All this will be done, they hope, by May 1st. Besides Flyglobespan’s flights, West jet is adding 3 daily flights this summer and Air Canada Jazz is going back to their summer schedule. Also back are the Aeromexico/Mexicana flights with workers and they will be also bringing in tourist (new) from Mexico this summer.
