This is probably the only reason why it won't. In the end, Power8 will in all likelihood turn into a watered-down compromise. Airbus will achieve some cost savings and efficiency gains (not as much as they need to) and the unions will achieve some job savings (not as much as they hope to) and both sides will claim victory.
