Delta Gives Customers More Opportunities for Comfortable, Entertaining Global Travel

New interiors for international aircraft offer leather seats and individual, on-demand entertainment in BusinessElite and Economy

ATLANTA, Jan. 22, 2007 – Delta Air Lines customers flying internationally now have more opportunities to cozy into all-leather seats and enjoy their choice of music, video and games, whether in BusinessElite® or the economy cabin. Delta has refurbished its first Boeing 777 and Boeing 767-400 with all-leather interiors and on-demand entertainment at every seat. Like many of the airline’s other internationally configured aircraft, these 777 and 767-400 now also have new lighting and wall coverings.

“Taking customers to more places worldwide than anyone else was the first step,” said Joanne Smith, vice president of Marketing for Delta. “Now, comfortable leather seats and great entertainment options combined with gracious onboard service help customers make the most of their time in the air. With enhancements like these, we’re making air travel part of the overall experience again, not just the means to a destination.”

Part of a fleet-wide cabin renewal program, the refurbished 777 will be used for Delta’s long-haul Tel Aviv, Tokyo and Mumbai flights, and on new routes this summer to Seoul and Dubai. The newly refurbished 767-400, along with 10 Boeing 767-300ERs modified in 2006, take customers comfortably to Delta’s more than 30 destinations throughout Europe, Africa and South America. Currently, 20 of Delta’s international aircraft are modified with interior enhancements, with plans to have all 75 internationally configured aircraft upgraded in 2007.

Last year, Delta announced upgrades to its international BusinessElite cabin, including improvements to its popular sleeper seat, touting 60 inches of legroom and a wide-angle recline, with more comfortable leg rests. Seats also have additional cushioning with memory foam under the knees for extra support, stylish new leather coverings, better headrests and tray tables, and in-seat laptop power outlets. Delta also has plans to introduce fully horizontal lie-flat sleeper suites on its Boeing 777 fleet beginning in 2008, with plans to install a lie-flat product in all international aircraft by 2010. The sleeper suites will feature Delta’s industry-leading entertainment system offering on-demand, digital video and music at every suite.

In addition, Delta also has completed interior modifications to nearly 80 percent of its domestic fleet, outfitting them with all-leather seating in first and economy class, as well as updated lighting, wall coverings, and lavatories. The cabin conditioning program began in late 2004. Since that time, Delta has completed the modifications on its entire MD-90 fleet. The next fleet types to be completed include Delta’s Boeing 737-800 and 757 fleets, along with the MD-88 fleet.

Can't wait to fly on one of these aircraft. Everything sounds really nice.
