I was able to see a diagram of the CRJ-200 with the YX colors. The aircraft will have the same livery as the 717. Looks nice. Oh, the interiors are all being redone completely, new brown leather seats will be installed. The aircraft will not say connect. They look like a mini-717.

Why would it not say connect?

If it's the same diagram as pubilshed here:

http://biz.yahoo.com/prnews/061221/nyth053.html?.v=73

The connect is in grey letters forward of the Midwest (that's a horrible diagram, IMO).

I don't understand why it would not say Connect on the aircraft ... it's a regional aircraft operating for Midwest Connect, that's what it should say on the side.

Speaking of the CRJ, I would suspect they'll use jetways at outstations when possible. The FRJ's sometimes do (although not as often as I would would like.) I wonder if Midwest would consider using jetways at MKE when available? Certainly in peak banks there's not room and the CRJ's will go to the regular connect gates. But at slower times it would be nice to give the CRJ passengers the benefit of a jetway. Same in Kansas City.

I just hope that Midwest does whatever it reasonably can to make the CRJ experience more like mainline and less like stereotypical "commuter" service. The added Skyway gates in MKE are a step in the right direction.

Do the FRJ's use a regular jetway or do they have to use the adapter like the CRJ does?

The issue I could forsee with this is that while the jetway is used directly with mainline aircraft, it would be used with one of those little "gangplanks" on a CRJ. I'm not quite sure what YX would be able to do with this "gangplank" when the jetway is attached to a 717.

EDIT: Just found out they make gangplanks that fold up and stow, silly me.

When i worked for aca in RDU, we didnt park the frj's at jet bridges. I think this will end up being one of the best schemes out of the CRJ-100/-200's. Glad to see they'll get upgraded seats. will make it a better ride.

DEW Bridge makes a jetway specifically for regional aircraft that features slats on the bridge floor that open to go around the rails on an airstair-equipped aircraft such as the FRJ and CRJ.

However I had heard that YX will not permit even these types of jetways to make direct contact with the aircraft and that adapters must be used on all types.

I'm not sure how this will play out with the CRJs ... SkyWest may permit it, but YX may prefer they use the adapters, I dunno.

There will be gangpanks used at all outstations that will have a CRJ, providing the jetway can be lowered to around 5'.

We've been told in MKE that the CRJs will be parking over at D27 A-D with most likely the addition of an E stop. The Skyway ramp will be overhauled once again in April, just when the pilots finally get use to the latest changes. I don't think MKE will be seeing the majority of the CRJs, MCI should be their main focus.

mmm....also if you look at that crummy pic, that is the same one from SkyWest's site, you'll notice it is just a deformed 717.

I believe you are right. It was announced 10 in MCI and 5 in MKE.

That paint job on the CRJ looks great. I also can't wait to see Midwest into SEA!

To bring this over from the original YX and OO thread, my rendering of the YX livery on the CRJ (WITH the Connect titles, as it should be):

Big version: Width: 3050 Height: 731 File size: 297kb

Only speculation at this point, but I suspect we'll see the CRJ on at least some of these:

MKE-MSP
MKE-OMA
MKE-RDU
MKE-EWR
MKE-PHL
MKE-SAT
MCI-SAT
MCI-PIT
MCI-AUS
MCI-MSY
MCI-CMH
MCI-OMA
MCI-RDU

Agreed. I also think the route would perform well with a CRJ giving US a run for their money.

If OMA goes CRJ, do you think OMA will loose its DCA route? You think they'd still fly to DCA on a CRJ or maybe would it be a mix of 717/CRJ into OMA?

Can't wait, I know how great it smells when the chocolate chip cookies are made on the larger jets, wait til the smell fills the smaller CRj a/c.

Also, it has been mentioned that Midwest will offer the same service as their Signature product on the Crj flights in reference to in-flight meals. Any mods necessary to the Crj galley to accomodate for this?

I don't recall what they said as far as meal service on the CRJs. I know currently the FRJs only offer snack service and cookies.

I don't see how this is possible, considering that I don't think US even flies PIT-MCI anymore. Besides, I thought PIT-MCI was doing well with the 717. Are they going with 2 CR2s then? If it's going from one 717 down to one CRJ, that is a punch in the gut for PIT flyers flying to MCI, even if the CRJ will be equipped with leather seats. The CRJ is still a tin can with wings and you have to be a contortionist to look out the windows from what I hear...

However, if they ARE going with 2 CRJs, that is adding capacity on that route. A 717 (88 seats) vs 2 CRJs at 50 seats per jet (100 seats), that is adding 12 extra seats on that route. If it's only going to be one CRJ, that is only 50 seats down from 88, and I don't think too many people will be happy with that...

That would be interesting, considering Midwest doesn't even fly that route. Only thing on that is a couple Air Midwest B1900's.

Next flights: WN DSM-LAS-PHX, US PHX-SJD. Return: US SJD-PHX, WN PHX-MDW-DSM

Yes, OO will offer Best Care Cuisine on the flights. From what I have been told, the galleys are being reconfigured to accomodate this. The FA is sure going to be busy with a full flight doing full service.
