LA To Add New Frequency To GIG.

Gents,

Effective 12FEB07 LA will add a new frequency to GIG:

LA758 SCL 19:00 22:30 GRU 23:15 00:15+1 GIG 00:45+1 05:30+1 SCL 320 DAILY

This flight is a modification of the previous LA758/9 which used to be SCL-GRU-SCL and this "new" LA758 will be flown throughout the year.

Just one word: competition.

LA is facing hard times nowadays with a strong competitor like Gol. This change probably is due to the fact that GRU received during the last 3 months, 5 new daily services to SCL.

G3 loads are not good, JJ just add a new night service (not to forget LX), and LAN is still looking for the best network Brazil-Chile.

Last month they confirmed the service Santiago-Rio is doing really very good and this new service GIG-SCL non-stop also confirms they are trying to build a new gateway in Brazil (also a place without competitor flying non-stop).

Prices GIG-SCL-GIG keep very high (while you can find US$ 186,00 SCL-GRU/GIG-SCL), and probably Brazilian market is driving LA attention as they can get better yields.

IMO very soon they will establish a second non-stop SCL-GIG flight also.
