SQ Business Class... From 72.35 GBP

Although only a short flight - it has a block of just 1 hour and 25 minutes - you can get a one-way, all-inclusive business ticket on SQ from PEN to SIN for just 72.35 GBP including everything. (An economy seat on that route is from 55.37 GBP all-in.) What is more, it seems not to matter whether you book a day in advance - yes, the same price is available tomorrow - or a few months. That, I think, is amazingly good value, despite the short duration of the flight - not least because there is presently no discount airline operating the route. (SQ operate SIN-PEN-SIN 3x daily using the 772.)

That's amazing, just a few pounds more for a biz class ticket. And that being with SQ!

LOL, Mr Pe@rson, you are giving away one of SIA's best kept secrets!

If you plan wisely you can check-in 24 hours in advance, have access to the Silver Kris Raffles lounge, explore all day long returning to/from the lounge for rests, food and champagne. I have treated myself to this trip several times, once checking in and going airside 18 hours before the departure!

What about KUL-SIN in J? How much does that costs?

most of Malaysia's domestic flights (on MAS' Golden Club) are similarly priced and some are even cheaper. For a few more pounds you can travel in Club on board MAS and use their Golden Lounge at KUL rather than travel in Y.

Although not Domestic - SIN-PEN and SIN-KUL are very short hops and therefore competitively priced.

Now then, Mr Kevin there is an even greater treat if you plan KUL to SIN wisely!

There is only F class or Y class between KUL-SIN-YUL (but the aircraft of both MH and SQ are usually C configuration) so THE treat is to book F class on Malaysian Airlines from KUL - SIN. Although the flight itself is only 50 mins (still time for some champagne and a snack,) you get to relax in the Golden Club First Class loung at KUL. This is MH's flagship lounge with full restaurant service, snacks, champagne, sleeper rooms, showers etc.

Three times I have been booked to fly KUL - SIN as above on a flight due to depart about 19.00pm. BUT, I always check in just after 09.00am at KL Sentral, take the train to airport and head straight to the Lounge to relax and enjoy the day (goodviews over the ramp). I am always up front and tell the girls at the lounge entrance I am coming in very early to relax and enjoy "the best airline lounge in the world". They always smile, welcome me in and then I relax, eat, drink the champagne, send emails, make free local calls and have a fantastic time till the flight later. There are even free lockers in the lounge and it is not a problem to leave and go explore the terminal too.

The cost? Last time (about 14months ago) the ticket was about £63 and it was worth every penny!

On KUL-SIN SQ don't have Business but rather First Class on this shuttle flight.

Total including tax is CAD196.78 in F

MAS in F is CAD209.39

SriLankan on KUL-SIN in cheapest Y is CAD100.78
JAL is CAD102.57
SIA Y is CAD123.78

Exactly! I've had that chance myself a couple of times, where I was flying LHR-KUL in J and then KUL-SIN in F...the best 4 hours I've ever spent in an airport.

I haven't been in SQ's lounges in SIN, but I've been to MH's in KUL, and I consider it equal to CX's Wing/Pier F sections. Pretty amazing.

I just did the SIN-KUL-SIN flight last week on SQ in F Class. SQ has an amazing First Class section in it's Silver Kris Lounge in SIN Terminal 1. It was WAY better than any US lounge and most International lounges that I have been in.

Although the flight time from SIN to KUL says 55 minutes, the actual flight time was around 35 minutes. I thought I was only going going to have time for a drink but they actually served a light meal and I was able to enjoy 2 tiger beers and not feel rushed!

The lounge in KUL was a little different experience. It was a little cramped and only sat about 20 people. There was very limited food and drinks, but hey, I really shouldn't complain.

If I recall correctly, my F class ticket was $274 and a Y class ticket was $198. Definitely worth the $76 fare difference to experience SQ F class. Although the seats were not your "pod" or "lay-flat sleeper" seats, it was an enjoyable (short) experience.

Wow - you've been having fun. I'm sure a person can consume enough champagne and snacks during a day at the lounge to offset the cost of the flights! And then you get 2 superb flights to look forward to.

Great tip - something I hope to get a chance to do in this lifetime (no - I'm not overly ambitious  Wink).

IF you mean the seats installed on the new 77W, then no, they are not installed on the 772 aircraft that do the SIN-PEN sectors. You are likely to get a regional configured 772, which means the regional business class seats. On some occasions, you may get a long haul configured aircraft, meaning the Space Beds. However, you will no get the new SQ Business class seats on this flight.

Just an aside:

Quoting SFOFlyer (Reply 12):
Although the flight time from SIN to KUL says 55 minutes, the actual flight time was around 35 minutes.

That's because the time stated in schedules is the block time - which includes the actual flight time, taxi time at both airports, and time for short delays. Think about it: if a schedule had only the flight time - let's say 35 minutes KUL-SIN - it'll always be late once you include taxi time - let alone time for short delays, like holding at peak times.

The aircraft used on the SIN-KUL/PEN route is usually a 2 class 777 (9V-SR- series)fitted with the regional business class seats. When the aircraft is deployed to do these 2 flights all they do is change the business class headrests and pillows to 1st class ones.So in actual fact you are sitting in a business class seat. There is no business class on KUL/PEN flights. However these flights are always very heavily booked. On KL flts in 1st you get a cold snack a limited bar(no champangne) and the flt time is only 35mins.On Pen flts you get a hot snack maybe a choice of a local dish or a western type and if i am not wrong wines and champange are available.Flt is approx 55mins.

Sold as C..meaning Business class?Odd....because i know for sure we dont have a business class on the PEN flights....only 1st and economy.
We used to have C Class when we operated the 3 class A310 to KL and PEN years ago before the 777 arrived.1st class is as usual....passengers who bought C Class are seated in the Business Class section but the service and food/drinks is exactly like economy, they just pay a little more for the extra space and bigger seat. And of course economy is economy.
