I read that JMC are to replace their DC-10s with A330s.
Does anyone know when they're to be delivered & how many have been ordered?

Cheers,
Jamie.

Jamie,

The first DC-10 is being retired on the 9th of Jan 2001 and is being replaced by a damp leased 767-300 from Britannia which is due 6th May. the first A330 is due in November 5th.

The remaining DC-10 is to be operating a limited summer schedule, 3 rotations per week and used as a back up aircraft, the 7676 to do 6 rotations per week.

The second A330 is due in March 2002, to coincide with this JMC are looking at relaunching the entire uniform brand.

The A330's are being configured the same as Airtours I believe, with a premium cabin and the toilets downstairs although this had not been confirmed yet.

Only two have been ordered and they have been leased. They originally wanted the 767-400ERX but it isn't ready in time so they went for the leased A330. Rumour has it that they are still thinking of replacing the A320's with NG737-800's as they seem to prefer an all boeing fleet. The A320's were inherited from Airworld and Caledonian Airways.

Hope this helps, any other questions drop me an email!!!

cya happy flying

the last i heard on the NG737 situation is that they now dont want them.
I heard the NG737 was looked at because of the part of Thomas Cook that was owned by that german company. thsame german companby owned Hapag lloyd and as Hapag fly NG737 they thought its best that JMC did aswell. However, the german company accuired Thomson and BY, so thir interest in Thomas Cook is to be sold (or already has) so they now have no interest in JMC, and the NG737 plan is to be re-thought.

Having flown JMC i also think the uniform rebranding would not be a bad thing! they look like RAF officers! Anyway apart from that JMC were good (well, G-FCLJ was a bit grubby, but it is a charter flight!)

Jmc777,

Thanks for your answer but i'm abit confused...
when you wrote that JMC are "relaunching their entire uniform brand" I thought it was just fancy for saying that they're to restructure their service, but Jmc757 has written about clothing. Help!

Thanks again,
Jamie.

ps. I REALLY want your job!
