I just came across this post from last month:

http://www.airliners.net/discussions...general_aviation/read.main/3199234

Apparently it's already archived, so I couldn't reply. Anyway, a quick check to DL's flight schedule and timetable will show you that the RJ-only days are only very temporary and that by early May the MD88s are back, twice a day, along with three CRJs.

A quick check of Delta's May schedule with many other cities will also show that it reverts to a "dummy" or "default" schedule after late april. It is quite an annoying thing that most airlines do, but quite often 2-3 montsh out reverts to an older schedule, and is not infact the final. Hopefully it will be the case, however, id wait till 6-7 weeks out to be certain.

A recent check of DL's schedule for RDU showed a different schedule than the dummy schedule. It only has 8 flights (not 11) with 6 being 757.. so it could be the legit schedule.

For PVD it shows the spring schedule they had published 2+ months ago It changes in March and April, then May goes back to the old one, They do this all the time, and the dummy/default schedule never prevails. I assume it is this way for all/most airports and future schedules (except INTL).

Maybe I was a little too quick to jump to a conclusion then, my apologies. I figured since May 1 is less than three months away, that'd it'd be accurate.  blush

Id go with 6-7 weeks out to be certain. Delta updates their schedules usually on saturday mornings... not EVERY saturday, but there usually always a few tweaks.

I hope that the RJ-only days are only temporary, as I've recently switched to (pretty much) flying solely DL out of DAB, and SYR is my hometown. SYR kept mainline service when all of the other Upstate airports lost it, so I'd imagine DL had a reason to do so. Supposedly, they get fairly good yields at SYR when compared to BUF, ROC, and ALB. I hope they'll reconsider the RJ crap, and that this is the result of it. I'll be incredibly happy if they keep mainline. Here's to hoping.  pray

This would be great news. As others have said, it's probably best to wait a few weeks to make sure, but this news is definately reassuring.

I for one will be glad to see those MD80s back in SYR!!!
