Ethiopian To Washington 6x Per Week And More

With the upcoming summer schedule, Ethiopian will increase service to Washington Dulles to 6x per week, Frankfurt to 4x per week. Also, new (resumed) service to Sanaa, Yemen and Bahrain.

So are they changing the timing of the flight? I was just at IAD on Sat. January 27th and there was an Ethiopian 767 on the apron. This was at 8am. What time does that flight arrive and depart?

The SAT flight sitting at IAD is the Fri departure from ADD. This flight will continue. As was stated above, there will be no Sat departure from ADD (Sun arrival to IAD).

Good news! Hopefully, this will become a daily flight soon. Since ET has no fifth freedom rights on the IAD-FCO sector of this flight, I hope ET will make this a nonstop flight once it takes delivery of its 787s. One day, I would like to fly ET.

Right now, with 4 flights, all leave ADD at night, arriving at IAD in the morning. Out of these, two leave IAD in the morning for morning arrival (+1) in Addis, while the other two leave in the evening, for evening arrival in Addis.

With the upcoming schedule, the split on the 6 flights will be 3/3.

I guess it shows the strength of the traffic between ADD and IAD, and the increase in traffic with this year's schedule that includes morning arrivals at ADD which afford convenient connections to African destinations.

As for the 787, it would definitely be great to have ET go nonstop, provided that the aircraft can do so without payload restrictions. It would cut the flight down by an hour or two...

A few cities have been talked about, including Malabo and Monrovia (although the latter was served at one point - same for Maputo). Nothing concrete.

After IAD is upgraded to daily service, I hope that ET expands its route network in North America. In my opinion, YYZ and New York should be the first priorites. After that, ET should consider cities such as ATL or ORD.

757ops is correct... I flew BKK-ADD (B763), ADD-Dire Dawa-Hargeisa (Somaliland) (F-50), Dire Dawa-ADD (F-50), ADD-DXB (B752) all on ET ZED fares in Feb 06. Had no trouble getting on any of them except a F-50 sector from Dire Dawa to Addis. Got on the next days flight.
Great airline. Friendly staff. Very interesting part of the world. Get yourself over there!

Those F50 to DIR are always full, but that goes for much of the domestic Network these days, especially now that the Historic route is becoming a large tourist attraction! So you flew 752 to DXB! Must have been a light flight, usually DXB is 763!!
