Hello all,
Found a good fare on airfare.com JFK-IST in May on DL non-stop. I have never bought tix from them. Any feedback about their service?
Also I have checked the seat map on delta.com and lots of room on both classes. What are my chances to get an upgrade being a Silver medallion member? How to go about it?
Thanks so much.

Delta and Continental are pretty much tied for customer satisfaction as far as US carriers are concerned. You can ignore any of the bad stuff people are going to say when you ask questions like that. People have bad experiences on all airlines.

It's not complimentary. If you're in an upgradable fare, (if it's a "good fare" on airfare.com, it prolly isn't) you can use miles (25K each way last I checked)

Hope this helps!

I recently flew MEM-ATL-GRU and I'm medallion level. When I asked about an upgrade I felt all but laughed at. I was told in MEM that neither flight was full.

I wouldn't count on what you see online. There have been many flights where on line it looked like the flights had plenty of seats but find flights actually overbooked.

you cannot upgrade on int'l segments. complimentary upgrades on Delta are domestic, Canada and select LatAM destinations.

Upgrades to BizE on int'l flights are only accepted using SkyMiles if your original booking class is Y, B or M.

Some see lines, others see between the lines.

Thanks all about the upgrading rules.
How about airfare.com as a site?

That helps your chances. I was gold when I flew this route on Delta in November. But it's important to remember that you have to have an upgradeable fare. I think M is the lowest upgradeable.

On my flight in November coach was sold out and Biz Elite was only half full both directions.

If you book it on that site you will have to call Delta afterwards and ask for an upgrade, which is risky. The best thing to do is to book it by calling Delta so you can be sure the upgrade is available.

Indeed. I got once upgraded on an ATL-MEX flight as a Silver Medallion SkyMiles member. Totally unexpected, but a very welcome upgrade!

Next flights: MEX-GRU (AM 77E), GRU-GIG (JJ A320), SDU-CGH (G3 73H), GRU-MEX (JJ A332).

I have only been "complimentarily" upgraded once on an International flight. CDG-ATL about two years ago. The only reason I was upgraded w/o using SkyMiles was my reservation was somehow erased/missing. The T7 was packed and so the ticket agent at CDG put me in Biz to make up for the trouble. Otherwise, plan on using your SkyMiles to upgrade and it has to be an upgradeable fare. If you got a good sale fare on a travel site, chances are the fare won't be eligible for upgrading.

Good luck.
