No the earthly aviation market is saturated, but kudos to Boeing for breaking into the nacescant Martian and Venutian market places. With the expected exponential population growth of those two markets over the next 50 years I'm sure Boeing will do quiet well.

Okay, time to speculate again. The 737 could really be anybody. The 3 767s, I'd put my money on either LAN (763Fs).

Yeah all the airlines bought Boeing, don't want to touch Airbus and it seems the extra-solar spacelines are doing the same. Boy Boeing is not just popular here on Earth but with aliens too.

The last two years were way above the long-term average for either manufacturer.. The fact that Boeing set a sales record last year should tell you all you need to know.
I for one am not expecting that trend to continue for very long. A lot of more planes have been ordered in the last two years than even Boeing or Airbus expected.

The 767 sales are surprising. Makes me wonder if Boeing decided to cut the price and keep that line moving while waiting on the tanker decision. I also wonder if Airbus closing the A306F line isn't helping the B767F.

I honestly think you're seeing two things:
1) Better pricing on that model.
2) The get it before it's gone rush. Any airline that might want to top up on 767s has a very small window to do that now.
The other thing I would point out is the 330F is doing well as well, so there's obviously a demand in that general size area of the F market.

Supposing they aren't buffering orders for some big "order jamboree", I suppose their current relative low order intake is the result from the fact their order book for the first few years was already well filled up last year...

This makes nearly 30 767 orders or commitments already this year -- that's about two years of production at current rates in just over a month. Who would have thought that the 767 would be Boeing's best-selling widebody at any point this year....

WSJ: "Boeing Airplanes' Chief: Plane Prices Are 'Firming'"
Quote: CHICAGO (Dow Jones)--Prices for new aircraft are "firming" with strong worldwide demand, Scott Carson, chief executive of Boeing Co.'s commercial aircraft unit, told analysts at a conference Thursday...
...The order cycle so far has been fueled by the growth of airlines in new markets such as China, India and the Middle East. Still, Carson said, "there's a great balance in the backlog," with almost an equal amount of orders from the Americas, Asia Pacific, and Europe, Africa and the Middle East. "This balance means our backlog is perhaps even stronger than it would appear by the raw numbers," Carson said. He spoke at a Lehman Brothers conference in New York, which was Webcast...
...Carson reiterated to analysts that Boeing's 747 model is sold out through late 2010; 777 is sold out through 2011; 737 is sold out through 2011, and 787 is sold out through 2012 or 2013, although he said customers might do some "horse trading" to acquire aircraft earlier. [emphasis added]
While Carson expects the order cycle to remain strong into 2011, "in the real world, the other guy's really tough, and we face competition on every deal..."

The UN will put the kibosh on the Venutian orders to help the Venutians reduce their CO2 emissions from cars, planes, and industry to save their planet from global warming. That could be good for the Martians - they may get extra frames earlier than thought, and they need the extra CO2 in their CO2-based atmosphere to take the edge off the chill.

So they could get no more orders until the end of 2010 and still be running at full tilt - wow!

This is the first time I've seen Boeing say the 777 was sold out through 2011. I thought 2009 availability was what was being quoted.

Well I didn't expect an official confirmation of my educated guess so soon.
Good news for Boeing, although it does provide some guidance as to who is likely to come out first in this year's order race.
Boeing has sold out its production and there is no serious talk about imminent production increases, whereas Airbus has just decided to considerably increase its A320 production with additional remarks from managers at TLS they will also announce a serious increase in A330/A340 production. This combined with the fact the A350 is offered for sale again (after having been 'off' the market for almost half a year last year) leads me to the conclusion Airbus is in a better position to satisfy the needs of customers seeking planes for delivery over the next 3 to 5 years.
Obviously one or two mega orders with deliveries set out in the distant future may always distort the picture, but I think the trend in orders at both A and B which we have seen so far has a good possibility of continuing throughout the year.

The A350 went "off" the market last year?
Sorry, must have missed the period when Airbus wasn't accepting any orders for it.

I guess in terms of individual units ordered. However, the majority of their January (and early February) book is for wide-bodies. The wide-body juggernaut continues at Boeing.
