Who says they're 737-700's? They could be the -300's or the -500's.

Im sure it will be added in the future. Southwest has certainly identified themselves as a big "wingletter". The 737s look so sharp.
And for the unpainted tugs, baggage carts, etc...I think it adds something. The gold colors with the blue just remind everyone of the Southwest they knew when it started, and the Southwest they know now.

Isn't WN planning to retrofit some of the -300's with winglets? They could go for winglets on the -500 like CO is for some, but the average stage length would have to justify it.

Well, if they were blue, they may get mixed up with AA's. Wouldn't want that.

Canyon blue is totally different color from AA blue GSE.
WN can get mixed up with the new UA Blue GSE, which has similar tone.
DH on the other hand had an Indigo Blue color for GSE.

The newest logo, the one with the blue 737, is a 737-700. Compare the wings to those on the logo with the old colors jet.

Come to SAN or SJC. Pretty much all equipment at both stations is in old colors.
Quoting OPNLguy (Reply 13): The first one, N368SW was due out of AAR at IND on Monday the 5th...
So I can expect to see one at SAN for the first time on...lets see...October of this year?

Because after a careful cost benefit analysis, Southwest executives concluded that the added efficiency provided by the addition of winglets to their ticket envelope fleet wouldn't be worth the required investment.

Specifically those things which operate the flaps (not sure what they are called) are painted red in the logo, which means the plane portrayed is a 737-700. Now that the -300s are apparently going to be getting winglets, the red flap-mover-things are going to become the easiest way to identify a plane as a 73G rather than a 733.

No, the entire wing on the logo is that of a 737-700. The old logo showed the extension of the engine pylon that extends to the rear of the wing. The new logo shows the correct layout (not just the color) of the flap fairings of the 737NG wing.
Wow, this discussion is a bit silly isn't it?

What's even sillier is I've asked myself the same question about the logo before... I figured it would have to wait another major brand update though. Fortunately the 73G's started dominating the fleet right around the same time WN revamped their image, so changing the graphic from a 733 didn't necessarily add any cost. The whole winglet craze hit just a little too late.

The Wright amendment prohibits it until 2010. Then they can show just one plane with Winglets until 2011 when they can show all their planes with winglets.

BOI as well.
Also,on the safety card, it is non wingletted -700. Canoes are orange, so it is not 'supposed' to be a -300. Maybe the new Ford, blue -700.

When do the first winglets go on the -300's? Guys its easy to tell the difference from the -700. tail isnt as tall on -300, engins have flatter bottoms because it sits lower. Flap tract fairings come to a point vs the -700 re sqaured off. Come on it's easy. I wonder if theyll cover up the small windows above cockpit like on -700s as well. we can only wait. But back to the main question... WHEN...lol.

The first two 733W are being retro fitted as we speak, the first being n368. Not sure when they will come back to service

Yes, it is easy. But this isnt really a discussion about the differences, we are talking about the old and new logos. The new logo has the -700s characteristics you describe.
And we have many -300s with the eyebrows plugged.
